Radge waited, fearing a patrol would find them. He jumped at every noise, his fur bristling.

Emberpaw took note of Radge's jumpiness. She scooted closer and twined her tail with his. "Relax" she mewed "you're acting like you have ants in your pelt." She began a gentle purring in attempt to calm her mate.

Radge sighed. "I just worry about more delays." He replied, a sad tone in his voice. He wanted to get back to the kits as soon as possible.

"They'll be fine" Emberpaw mewed reassuringly. She nuzzled into Radge's side and purred deeply. She knew her mate was really worried, but so was she, she wished she could show it but she had to stay strong for Radge.

Flamheart noticed that the couple had moved closer, and that Radge seemed restless. "Well here it is" she mewed, dropping the bundle of broom at their paws. "So whos going to bandage it?" she asked.

"Emberpaw should." Radge decided. He was trembling too much. He hated to be so weak, so weak that Emberpaw had to be the one to care for their injured daughter. In a flash of guilt, he realized Emberpaw would be better off without him.

Emberpaw noticed Radge's shaking and smiled sadly. "Yeah I can do it" she mewed, knowing that Radge was shaken up by all the events.

Flameheart nodded. "Well you need to chew up the broom into a paste and apply it to the injured area. One leaf should be sufficient" she began. "Then you're going to want to find some sticks to hold the paw in the correct position and some cobwebs to hold the splint together" she continued. "I reccommend changing the dressing every two days" she finished.

Emberpaw simply nodded, carefully listening to all of Flameheart's instructions.

Radge did his best to remember the instructions too, so he could at least assist Emberpaw. Then he dipped his head to Flameheart. "Thank you once again."

Emberpaw smiled at the medicine cat. "Thanks so much" she mewed, picking up the bundle. "Shall we go?" she asked around the herbs, facing her mate.

Flameheart flashed the couple a smile. "You're welcome" she mewed "if you need anything else don't be afraid to come back." With that said, the medicine cat turned and padded back towards camp.

Emberpaw got to her paws and began heading towards the burrow, eager to get back to her kits. She paused and waited for Radge to follow, concerned for her mate, he seemed rather upset.

Radge followed. "I'm okay." He whispered.
Taz saw his twoleggeds approaching and moved to guard the den. No way were they getting these kittens...

Emberpaw smiled at Radge, it was awkward looking because of the herbs in her jaws. She nuzzled her mate and purred softly.

Dair lay beside his sister in the burrow, awaiting his parents return. The sudden scent of twolegs assaulted him and he felt his pelt bristle. He insitnctively moved in front of his injured sister, praying that Taz would lead them away.

Radge licked her ears. "It's okay, things will turn out fine."
Taz did what he could to try to distract them, but the twoleggeds began to investigate the burrow. One held him while the other began to inspect the kittens. "No!" Taz cried.

Emberpaw felt a sense of unease wash over her, like something was wrong. "Lets hurry" she mewed.

Dair hissed at the twolegs trying to touch him and Periwinkle. He lifted his paw and brought it down on the twoleg's arm, claws unsheathed.

Radge sensed it too. He began to bound ahead, pausing to look back, but eager to return to make sure.
Taz struggled, but the twoleggeds seemed to intend on messing with the kittens. Then one picked Dair up. Taz struggled hard, only to earn a fierce smack on the head. He cowered, whimpering.
(Dogs. *eyeroll*)

Emberpaw bounded after her mate. She was extremely worried about the kits. Please protect them StarClan she prayed.

Dair hissed and struggled as he was picked up. His instincts were to claw at the twoleg's face and get to his sister's side. "It'll be okay Peri" he mewed, looking down at his sister, trying to hide his fear.

Radge stumbled, taking a heavy fall. He wasn't badly hurt, but it took a moment for him to recover.
Taz timidly struggled as he watched Peri and her brother lifted up and out of the den. Peri was mewing with pain. "Dair? What will they do to us?"

Emberpaw saw her mate stumble and dropped the herbs at her paws. She went over to him. "Are you alright?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.

Dair watched helplessly as his sister was lifted as well. He knew he had failed at protecting her and sighed. "I don't know Peri, I really don't know" he mewed softly.

"Fine Emberpaw, I'm just being clumsy." Radge hissed his frustration as he got up, his leg sore, but not broken.
Taz was released as the humans began to take the kittens home. Taz felt torn. Should he wait for Radge and Ember or follow? He decided to follow, knowing Radge could pick up his scent.

Dair yowled as the twolegs began to take them away from their den. He couldn't leave, what about his parents, they would never see them again.

Radge nearly snapped at her, but softened quickly. "You are't clumsy." He replied firmly, heading on.
Peri began to mew weakly. "Dair I'm frightened." She admitted. Bravado gone, she was left feeling totally terrified and helpless.

Emberpaw just shook her head, knowing there was no point in arguing. "Whatever you say" she mewed before grabbing the herbs again and following Radge.

Radge flashed her a smile. "You aren't. You have become a very balanced and strong cat Emberpaw." He asssured her as they sped towards the burrow.
Peri took comfort from knowing Dair was there. She was lucky to have such a good brother.

Emberpaw smiled back, despite the nagging voice in the back of her mind that said she was no better than before. She quickened her pace and caught up to her mate.
Dair looked around frantically, trying to figure out some way to escape.

Radge reached the hollow and stopped dead. Twoleggeds, an empty den, it was nearly overwhelming. The big tough loner who at one time had not one friend and refused to let anyone touch his heart broke down and cried. "No!"
Taz stayed nearby them. "It'll be alright Dair, I won't let them hurt you. Your parents will track and rescue you!"
