Tidalwave smiled and settled beside her. He leaned closer and nuzzled her, being careful to aggrevate her injuries. It felt great to be next to her and to not be fighting. "So, how are you really feeling?" he asked, looking into her eyes.

His touch sent chills up Shadowcross's spine. She looked at him in a new light, wondering how she hadn't noticed his kind expression or his charming smile before.
"Well... it hurts a little, but... it will heal." She meowed sheepishly, not used to confiding her weaknesses in other cats.

"I'll be here to help you heal" he mewed, smiling at her. He knew that it must've been heard for her to reveal her feelings, and he internally celebrated his little victory of getting her to condfide in him. "Now did you want me to go get you some fresh kill?" he asked.

Shadowcross blushed slightly at his words, glancing down at her paws with a pleased smile on her face.
"Okay," she meowed quietly. Then she looked up quickly, her eyes wide and almost kit-like, "Will you share some fresh-kill with me?" She asked almost hopefully.

"I'd be glad to" he mewed, smiling at the portrait of innocence she painted. He slowly backed out of the den, not wanting to leave. He turned and headed towards the fresh kill pile and selected a plump squirrel. He picked it up and brought it back to the she-cat.
"Here we are" he mewed, dropping the squirrel at her paws, before settling across from her.

Shadowcross smiled when he returned. She had felt lonely even in the few moments he'd been gone. I'd better be careful, she thought. I don't want him to get bored with me... and he probably will if I'm too clingy, like some of those other she-cats. She tried to look composed as she watched him carry in a squirrel for them, but she couldn't stop herself from squirming a bit in happiness, despite the extra pain that added to her injured shoulder.
"Thank you," she said, gesturing with her head to the piece of prey. She reached forward with her uninjured paw and prodded it towards him. "You take the first bite." She prompted.

"Anytime" Tidalwave mewed, smiling warmly at her. He watched as she pushed the squirrel towards him. He shook his head, "You take the first bite" he mewed, pushing back towards her.
It's nice to finally not be fighting he thought to himself, while gazing at Shadowcross.

Shadowcross smirked.
"I had no idea you were such a gentleman." She meowed, taking a bite of the warm plump squirrel. When she'd swallowed, she drew her tongue over her whiskers and pushed it towards him. "Okay, now it's your turn." She said.

Tidalwave simply shrugged. "And I didn't know you could be so nice" he teased gently.
He took a bite from the offered squirrel, letting the delicious taste flood his mouth. He then pushed the squirrel back towards her.

Shadowcross smiled slightly.
"I usually am not very social," she sighed. "I guess I take life too seriously sometimes." He looked at the squirrel a moment before taking a bite. She gently prodded the squirrel back towards Tidalwave, smiling at him. She was glad they could be together like this. Shadowcross had never imagined having a mate or kits before, but the thought seemed too real now. I wonder what our kits would be like, if we had any...? Shadowcross thought absentmindedly.

"Well you should lighten up more often" Tidalwave mewed "you're very easy to talk to when you do." He smiled at her, before leaning down and taking another bite of the squirrel. He pushed it back to her and he chewed it.

Shadowcross stared at the squirrel thoughtfully.
"I guess," she mused, "But I've always been a bit too distracted by my duty, you know? Relationships have always seemed to be second to me. At least... that's what I used to think." Shadowcross glanced up at Tidalwave, giving him a shy smile before taking another bite of their shared prey.

Tidalwave thought she was absolutely adorable and a totally different cat then she used to be. "Well maybe you should just relax more" he mewed "maybe take a chance at a relationship." He shot her a shy smile of his own.

"I believe we do" Tidalwave mewed, smiling at his new mate. He looked at her with his blue eyes, his emotions shining in them. He felt warm, tingly and complete, he hadn't even realized that something was missing until now.

Shadowcross had never thought of having a mate before. Most she-cats seemed to have thought of it at least once by her age, but she'd never given it any consideration. Perhaps Shadowcross simply lacked imagination. If she'd known it would feel this good to be loved, then maybe she would have dreamed of finding it more often.
"I wish I could get out of this stuffy medicine den," Shadowcross sighed finally. "Then we could do something more exciting together." She muttered, feeling a bit mutinous. She hated being cooped up, now more than ever when she finally had someone she wanted to do something with.

"If you want we could probably go into the clearing for a little bit" Tidalwave mewed. "As long as you're careful" he added. He wished he had realized these feelings sooner, he spent way too long fighting with Shadowcross when they could've been a couple this whole time.

Shadowcross sighed. She had been told to stay in the den, but what fun would that be? Although, if I hurt my shoulder worse, I'll be in here longer... She thought. Well I can try. Slipping her good paws beneath her body, she pushed herself up on three legs and staggered a little, trying not to lurch her injured shoulder.

Tidalwave was at Shadowcross' side in an instant. He was attempting to take most of her weight so she didn't injure herself further. "You sure you're okay to do this?" he asked.

Leaning against Tidalwave, the task of standing was much easier. She smiled at him and nodded.
"Yeah. I'll be careful." She meowed. Shadowcross moved forward slowly, making sure to only step with one paw at a time so that she didn't lose her balance. She made her way out into the camp, moving towards a patch of sunlight to the side of the den. She stopped and looked around at her Clanmates, feeling comfortable, despite the proximity she still held with her new mate.

Tidalwave made sure to match his pawsteps with hers, supporting a lot of her weight. He let her lead the way to a sunny spot in the camp. He could feels the eyes of clanmates upon him, and he didn't like it. He didn't blame them though, just yesterday they were fighting, and now they were being friendly. He settled down in the patch of sunlight, awaiting his mate to join him.

Shadowcross gingerly settled down next to Tidalwave. She was feeling a bit embarrassed by her Clanmate's stares, but she supposed they'd get used to it eventually. Turning to look at her mate, she smiled.
"I think we've surprised everyone," she purred softly, her embarrassment becoming more like amusement as she saw the silly faces on some of their Clanmates' faces.

Tidalwave let out a small chuckle. "Well I don't doubt it" he mewed "just yesterday we were at each other's throats, and now..." He trailed off, using his tail to gesture to their closeness and smiled. "They'll get used to it" he said. "Eventually" he added.
