The hum of Twoleg monsters buzzed overhead, filling the she-cat's ears with constant noise. Her eyes flicked back and forth nervously in the dark as she slunk forward, her belly fur brushing the damp floor of the tunnels. Her grey/brown-dusted pelt looked as if it was covered in dirt, and her whiskers seemed to droop as she moved slowly towards the other end of the tunnels.
"Really!" a voice exclaimed behind her, making the she-cat jump, "Why we didn't just cross that stupid Thunderpath I'll never know. It's terribly bleak in here."
"Y-you know I d-don't like c-crossing Thunderpaths," the dusty-furred cat responded, casting a glance over her shoulder at her hazel-eyed companion.
"And you'd think I'd know why, but I sure as starshine don't," the white cat retorted. Her friend let out a long sigh, rolling her blue eyes dramatically, though the effect was rather lost in the darkness of the tunnels.
"Let's j-just get on, Kyrie."
"Whatever you say, Lei," Kyrie meowed calmly. Eleison glanced at her and then made her way towards the exit of the tunnel. As soon as they emerged into the clear day, she relaxed.
"That's better, huh?" Kyrie mused as she joined her friend. Together they stared out at the wide landscape, admiring the shape of the shimmering lake in the distance and the rich trees surrounding it.

A bracken colored tom sat in a tree near the end of the Thunderpath. He watched as the monsters, more commonly referred to as cars, zoomed passed and disappear into the tunnel and on the other side, different monsters would come out. Vixion was half asleep when something finally caught his attention and cured his boredom. His green eyes spotted two cats reveal themselves from under Thunderpath. He climbed half way down his tree to get a better look at the two felines who were now going to serve as his amusement. However, as he was climbing down he lost his balance and landed awkwardly onto his belly with an 'oof.'

Eleison looked up in surprise when she heard a noise. She noticed a tom lying beneath a tree, looking as if he'd fallen out of it. Frowning, the she-cat cast a glance at her companion, and was shocked to find that Kyrie had already walked forward towards the stranger.
"Hello!" Kyrie meowed cheerfully, "You're not hurt, are you?" She looked up at the tree and then back at the tom with a concerned look on her face. Eleison followed her slowly, not quite as willing to trust this cat.

Vixion shook as he stood up, more from embarrassment than anything. "I think I'll live," he meowed in response. "Thanks for asking," he gave his appreciation with a nod when he was finally stable. The tom looked at the other she-cat who was following warily behind the one who was avid on checking up on him. "I'm Vixion by the way," he figured that he should at least introduce himself if there was going to be any interaction between them in the future. "And if it isn't too much to ask, may I know your names?"

Kyrie glanced over her shoulder at her companion. Eleison's facial expression didn't change much, but she inclined her head slightly, and her friend smiled in response. Turning back to Vixion, she gave him a friendly grin.
"I'm Kyrie and this is my friend Eleison." She meowed cheerfully. It wasn't every day that the two she-cats met someone new. The loner lifestyle rarely produced friends, so it was always a very pleasant thing when they got to make new friends. Or at least that was what Kyrie felt. Eleison was more shy of nature, so she didn't quite share her companion's viewpoints, but she was respectful enough to remain silent and calm.

Vixion gave Kyrie a warm grin then flashed Eleison the same expression. Finally his basic curiosity set in and he tilted his head in a questionable manner and asked, "What were you two doing under the Thunderpath? I don't mean to pry, but I'm just used to watching cat's dart into it and stay as close to the edges as possible," he knew that he probably sounded like a pest, but he rarely was able to meet new felines. He once met a dog that spoke like a cat but that was different, these were actual cats, his own species. He sat down with his back against the tree, his attention on the two she-cats as traffic passed by them on the Thunderpath.

"Well," Kyrie said with a smug grin, "I was all for flying across the Thunderpaths like a hawk, but Eleison gets skittish around monsters. She likes to avoid them when possible." The she-cat glanced at her companion, who gave her a stern look.
"So, what were you doing in a tree?" Kyrie asked him with a mischievous smile on her face.

The tomcat listened as Kyrie spoke and chuckled when she talked of flying. "That's understandable. Monsters aren't the most forgiving things on this Earth," he replied with his eyes on a large monster as it blared under the tunnel. Vixion's gems snapped back to Kyrie when she asked him a question. "What was I doing here?" he thought for a second, "Well I was just lounging around in one of my favorite spots, almost asleep when you two showed up." Vixion meowed and smiled warmly at Kyrie.

Kyrie looked up into the branches of the tree. He likes sitting up there? She thought, a bit surprised. She didn't mind trees, but climbing them always meant climbing down them, and Eleison was much better at that than Kyrie was.
"I see," she meowed, turning back to Vixion, "Sorry to disturb your beauty sleep." She grinned impishly in that way she did, earning an exasperated sigh from Eleison.

Vixion grinned at the she-cat who was probably thinking that it was odd for a cat to be in a tree all day, but that was his home. He loved being where no other cat could, or would, come and bother him when he didn't want to be pestered. Not to mention the magnificent view that was provided with the height of the trees. "I, uh...Live up there....well I rest there anyway. I prefer mice over birds," he stated, his tail pointed up into the thicker part of the tree. "And don't worry about it. I was simply dozing off... I do it all the time,"chuckled the tomcat. Vixion wasn't one for so much laughter but falling out of a tree and meet an outgoing she-cat tended to bring forth a more pleasant side of him.

Kyrie grinned.
"It must be nice, getting to see such as beautiful view every day." She meowed, glancing at the lake beyond them. "That's such a pretty lake. Have you ever been there?" She asked curiously. Eleison looked at the shimmering water in the distance and smiled slightly. It really was beautiful.

The bracken tabby further deepened his grin when the brownish gray she-cat asked about the lake. He had been there at least a dozen times within the past week. "Yes, I was actually thinking about going there tonight," he mused, the smile still there and unwavering upon his partially white muzzle. He paused and then added, "The reflection of the stars is simply majestic." "Why? Is that where you two were heading for?" Vixion asked, although it was an idiotic question, considering that he had overheard the two say something about the lake being beautiful. An idea popped into his head and he stood. "I would be glad to escort you both to the lake, if you would like."

Kyrie's eyes lit up. She'd been wanting to see the lake closer, and the idea of a plethora of stars dancing across its surface made her want to see it even more. She looked over at Eleison, her expression pleading. Eleison considered for a moment and then shrugged. She could find nothing so terribly bad about the plan.
"We'd love it if you could take us!" Kyrie replied as she turned back to Vixion, her grin spreading almost entirely across her pretty face.

The tom turned in the direction of the lake, "Follow me," he purred politely and started off in the direction of the lake in a small trot. Vixion got to thinking and slowed his steps. 'Does Eleison speak or is she mute? Wait that's just stupid, you heard her speak...' he thought and then shook his head slightly.
He continued walking until he was at the lake. His pale eyes reflected the sparkling of the water. Water however, wasn't Vixion's cup of tea, so he stayed at good tail lengths away from the shore. "Here we are."

Kyrie looked out across the water, her eyes sparkling with wonder.
"It's so beautiful. Don't you think so Eleison?" She asked, turning to her companion. Eleison looked at it for a moment and then shrugged.
"It all looks like w-water to m-me..." She said quietly, her voice stuttering. She turned away, hoping that the tom hadn't noticed. She didn't like cats to hear her speak. Kyrie smiled, then turned to Vixion.
"Do you come here very often?" She asked cheerfully.

Vixion watched as Kyrie looked over the water, obviously awestruck. He turned his head to Eleison as the she-cat spoke. The tom thought that she had a lovely voice, but that it was simply too hesitant. However there was something else about that added to it, it almost sounded like fear. Vixion didn't feel like prying into Eleison's life because she didn't seem like the type for talking much about anything.
He turned back to Kyrie and smiled, "Yes, as a matter of fact I do. However," he sighed and looked over at the water, "I'm not one for the water. I stick to the trees and the grass." Vixion inwardly cringed at the thought of going into the water.

Kyrie nodded solemnly.
"I agree," she mewed. "I like to look at it, but I'm always miserable when I get my paws wet. Eleison's different, though. She really likes the water. In fact, she tried to teach me how to fish once." Kyrie smiled at her friend, who shrugged her shoulders, embarrassed. She had always liked the water, though she'd never known quite why. I suppose it was my mother's influence. Eleison thought.

Vixion shook his head in surprise. He had gotten the impression that Eleison didn't have a liking for the water. His green eyes grew brighter as he looked at the she-cat. "Is that so Eleison?" he mewed excitedly. "Forgive me, but I had taken you as a cat who wasn't one for the water," the bracken tabby mused, a smile now beaming on his face.
He turned back to Kyrie and nodded slowly, "Yes, when I was younger, I had a bad run-in with a crawdad that wouldn't let go of my tail. Of course, I ended up eating him, but that's besides the point," his throat hummed with laughter as he spoke.

Eleison's eyes narrowed slightly. I wonder why he thought that? She mused. She supposed she looked like some pretty dainty cat, since she had soft silky fur and big blue eyes. But that wasn't at all Eleison's personality. She was more like a tom in most respects.
"Oh, I know how that is," Kyrie meowed with a nod, "Eleison caught a fish once and it flew into my face and slapped my nose with its tail. I've been skittish around them ever since." She meowed solemnly.

Vixion was somewhat taken aback by the she-cat's slight sign of slight hostility. He really didn't mean to be rude, it was just how he pictured her. Now he knew better, and wasn't going to bother with the subject any further.
With his full attention averted to Kyrie, Vixion twitched his ears as she told her story. In a way he almost wanted to laugh, but he knew that it would be found most inappropriate. The tom's eyes developed an understanding for the she-cat. "Yes, that would make me a bit edgy around the water as well. Although, fish is quite tasty," he licked his chops at the thought of a fish laying dead on the bank, ready for him to tear into.

Kyrie smiled at Vixion, since she could tell he was trying not to laugh despite himself. She would not have taken offense, since she had laughed at herself many times over the events of her past, but she still did appreciate the fact that he was keeping her feelings in mind.
"Yes, it wasn't bad," Kyrie replied with a smile. "I prefer not to be anywhere near them while they're alive though." She let out a small mrrow of laughter, her eyes shining with mirth.

Vixion's pastel green eyes grew brighter with glee. He knew exactly how the she-cat felt. The tom looked back out over the calm water as it slowly lapped the shore. The tom then turned his gaze to Eleison, "How can go into the water and not have it bother you?"
He sat and wrapped his tail comfortably around his front paws awaiting a response.

Eleison looked up slowly when she heard the change of direction in his tone. Meeting his gaze for a moment, she quickly glanced away. Reflecting on his question, she wondered how she could respond without making it sound completely stupid.
"You get used to it." She meowed slowly and with a few pauses, making sure not to stutter. Kyrie glanced at her friend and smiled.
"Your mother really liked swimming, didn't she?"
"Yes." Eleison acquiesced with a slight nod.

Vixion smiled softly at Eleison, he did enjoy listening to the quiet she-cat speak. There was really nothing that he could say about the current topic, however he was curious as to how efficient she was in the water. He knew that it would be a stupid and intrusive question to ask, and he probably sounded like a pest.
"If it isn't too much to ask for, I would love to see how easily you can swim," he meowed awkwardly.

Eleison frowned slightly, glancing at Kyrie. Her friend smiled and nodded.
"It'd be fun, Lei!" She encouraged. Eleison was still not convinced, but she shrugged and glanced at the water.
"The current... is a bit s-strong here." She stammered, flushing a bit when her voice tripped over itself. She hated sounding like a blubbering kit. Glancing to her left, she saw a river running out of the lake.
"That would be ideal." She meowed, gesturing with her tail.
