The sweet smell of rain hung in the air, but the earth was only a little damp. Sitting on a smooth rock beside the shimmering pool, Ottertail amused himself by examining the soft glisten of the leaves in the trees, which looked rejuvenated by the rainfall. Ottertail felt as if butterflies were fluttering in his stomach, and even the shiny reflections on the leaves couldn't distract him from his nerves. He would soon be meeting his mate, Flameheart, for one of their precious outings together.
"Just calm down. You've gone out together before." Bluebell scolded, sitting down beside Ottertail as he twitched his tail nervously. Tangledpath was pacing nearby, irritated with the waiting. He disliked sitting around in general.
"Well I know I'm tired of waiting." He grumbled.
"Maybe something happened?" Ottertail fretted.
"She's probably fine." Bluebell glanced at Tangledpath and then smiled reassuringly at Ottertail.

A ginger she-cat slipped out if camp. Flameheart was glad she managed to get away to spend some time with her mate. She smiled at the thought of her mate, Ottertail. She hadn't been this happy in moons.
She reached the shimmering pool and saw Ottertail sitting by it. She smirked as she slowly stalked closer. She lept at him, using her weight to try and unbalance him.

Flameheart was a medicine cat, so Ottertail didn't blame her for giving away her approach--even though it was obvious she was trying to surprise him. He acted surprised, though, and let her tackle him off of his perch. Mrrowing with laughter, he smiled up at her.
"Got me, I guess," he meowed, touching her nose gently with his.

Flameheart smiled brightly as she knocked her mate over. She looked into his eyes, as he touched her nose with his. "I thought you were supposed to be a big, strong warrior, but I managed to surprise you" she teased.

Ottertail grinned slightly, knowing that he could obviously defend himself against this accusation. But he liked to make Flameheart smile, and teasing was something he didn't mind.
"You have succeeded where others have failed, I assure you," he meowed, his eyes shining as he took in her face, her smell, the feel of her body so close to his, heat radiating between them.
