Wildfire loped through the pale, dead grass, her pelt blazing like a fire as the blades shivered around the form of her lithe body. A weak leafbare sun touched her red and black pelt, illuminating her as she ran. Her heart felt so free as she ran, her limbs seemed tireless and she felt as though she could run forever.
Wildfire stopped abruptly, realizing almost too late that she was on the edge of the border with Thunderclan. She was surprised to have made it this far already. She stood panting, gazing into the skeletons of the trees, and suddenly began to feel the familiar nagging of memories that seemed out of her reach. She paced back and forth for some time before finally sitting down.

"Wildfire? Are you alright?"
A voice sounded from behind her. Northstar stepped out from behind a bush. He didn't mean to follow her, but he saw her running while he was on a hunting patrol by himself. She had startled his rabbit that he had been chasing and he wondered where she was going. So he followed her to see if she was ohkay. She just looked like Something had been bothering her.
For some reason Northstar had been noticing Wildfire a little bit more then normal. The tom wasn't sure why, he just was. She was a beautiful she-cat. No tom could deny that.
"Sorry for following, I saw you running off and so I got a bit worried about you and so I'm just wondering if your alright. Its not like I was meaning to be snoopy or anything." He grabbed his tongue before he said anything else and started rambling. He would never forgive himself if he did. Why did he feel like this?

Wildfire started at the sound of another voice. She hadn't expected anyone to find her here. She lowered her ears in surprise to find her clan leader gazing at her, the pale yellow grass waving like an ocean just below his stomach.
"I..." she began, turning back to the border. "I'm not sure..." she meowed, furrowing her brow. "When I run, my paws seem to carry me here a lot." she mumbled, feeling clumsy actually expressing herself honestly. She stood up and a breeze blew by, dancing in her fiery fur. Keeping her clanmates at a distance was one thing, but it felt dishonorable to do that to her leader.
She cast an amused glance at Northstar. "You shouldn't worry about me running off. I thought Storyteller complained often enough about it for every cat to know!" she hissed in laughter, her eyes glowing.

''NORTHSTAR;;
The black and white tom shrugged and looked looked up at the sky. He knew exactly what she meant by her paws carrying her places. For some reason that had happened to him one time or another to him when he was thinking, though they would usually take him to the lake or the small patch of forest that they had. It was peaceful in those places and it allowed him the ability to think without having all of the other leader duties to have to deal with.
When he finally spoke he looked back at Wildfire with a soft expression. "I understand what you mean. And I will worry about you because its my job to worry about you and the rest of my Clan. I do hear Storyteller's complaining but I tend to pay more attention to the cats themselves then what I hear from others."
He purred at her and thanked StarClan for the wonderful cats that he lived with in WindClan.

Wildfire swallowed her discomfort. She wasn't used to how serious and genuine Northstar was. Most of the rest of her clanmates humored her, because they knew she was rarely serious. Still, something about it was intriguing and refreshing. She was surprised that he didn't reprimand her for saying that Storyteller "complained". It almost made her laugh that he went along with the language she used.
"I wouldn't want you to worry about me, Northstar. It is my duty as a warrior to support you, not to worry you." She meowed, glancing back at the noble tom. "I may be young, but you have my dedication and my loyalty." she vowed in all honesty. I've typically been too independent for my own good anyway... she thought to herself. Maybe it's time I paid more attention to the clan than on myself...but if I can't focus, how can I be a good warrior? It had been a long time since Wildlfire let herself feel so insecure.
"How is it, being clan leader? Do you ever get to be yourself?" she found herself wondering aloud without thinking.
