[Brackenstar]
The leader took a deep breath. There were six kits that had become of age a few days ago already, but with all the hubbub about the tainted fish, Brackenstar had completely placed the ceremony aside. Yes, having more apprentices was important for the clan. But then again, finding the source of the sickness that had struck his clan was even more so. Sighing, the Maine-coon padded out of his den.
It was a bright day. The brightest he had seen in days; maybe New-leaf was arriving, at last. There was a thin layer of snow, still, covering the ground and the shelters. It was a bright, very white day. It was breathtaking, it was beautiful. It was perfect for what he had planned.
Leaping onto the Tall Rock, Brackenstar's amber eyes looked over his clan. Clearing his throat, he readied his voice to do something he very rarely did: speak loudly. Wrapping his bushy tail around his paws as he sat down, the leader called, "All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Tall Rock for a clan meeting."

Fish Claw was very excited about meeting the clan, and becoming an apprentice:yet he also understood why the tainted fish problem was more important, than the ceremony. So he waited patiently and tried to help to the best of his knowledge when he was asked.

Icepetal and Brambletail made their way out of the Warrior's den, their pelts almost brushing as they took their seats together. The two siblings had been so busy lately, they cherished the small moment to be in each other's company again. Icepetal looked up at Brackenstar with open amber eyes, a smile playing on her muzzle. Brambletail noticed the expression and frowned, wondering what she was thinking. He'd never seen that expression on his sister's face, and he didn't really understand it.
Fleetingpaw looked up from the small vole she was sharing with her sister. The prospect of new denmates was an exciting one, at least. She hopped to her feet, her tail lashing excitedly.
"Come on, Lightningpaw!" She called to her sister, who stood with her stony gaze only just focused on what was happening. The stern she-cat nodded to Fleetingpaw and joined her in the clearing, abandoning their prey for the moment, although her thoughts were still focused on her meal.

At the sound of her leader's voice-- a small black kit ran ahead of her mother and siblings. Her tail up and her bluish violet orbs round with excitement. She left the nursery with naturally light but rushed steps, slithering around the bigger cats' legs to look for a good spot to watch the ceremony.
It was the first time in her three moons that she was present for a clan meeting, and her orbs shone with anticipation, as if it were her that was to become an apprentice. As always, thanks to her mother, Violetheart, her raven pelt was lustrous and well groomed.
A strange scent caught the kit's attention and she found herself tracing it to a cat she had never seen before. Yet again as a nursery kit she did not know every cat in Riverclan, still he seemed different. He appeared to be of apprentice age, and he smelled of fish alright, but he did not smell of Riverclan.
"Hi!" The kit meowed to the stranger who's name, Fish Claw, she was oblivious to. "Who are you? I have not seen you before." Then as if remembering to not be rude she added, "I'm Melodykit."

Hearing Melodykit call out to him he moved swift and silently and like an blur was next to melodykit."Hi my name is Fishclaw, I was found by Cascadingwater, and Brackenstar near my house out here in the forest fishing."There was an noticeable problem with fish being tainted, after I scooped them out for Brackenstar, and Cascadingwaters"He whispered not to disturb anyone but keep the conversation between them."Brackenstar has had me come here to be part of the clan."Fish Claw said still in an whisper.

Laughingfox padded into camp, a fish dangling from his jaws. He sighed when he remembered the problem that was happening with their prey, but there didn't seem to be anything wrong with the fish he had caught. He flicked his ears before deciding to set the fish near the fresh kill pile before trotting over to the center of camp. He sat down a foxlength from his other clanmates. An apprentice ceremony! I hope I get an apprentice. he thought eagerly.
His spirits suddenly plummeted when he realized that Brackenstar probably would have pulled him aside to tell him that he was mentoring one of the kits. He let out a sigh and scuffed his paw on the ground.
Emeraldkit peeked out of the nursery and slowly padded out. He sat near the entrance and curled his tail around his paws. In the past few days since he had met with Brackenstar, his vision didn't seem any worse in his blue eye, but he hadn't been able to enjoy the good news because of the death of his mother, Shellfur.
He laid down on the cold earth and rested his head on his paws, feeling a bit restless and depressed. Will my clanmates even be excited when I become an apprentice? They won't even hold a ceremony for me... he thought, somewhat jealous. He had chosen the path of a medicine cat, and knew that after his final days of kithood, he would feel even more separated from his clanmates. The queens in the nursery had been trying to comfort him the past few days and made sure he had everything he needed, but Emeraldkit just seemed to feel tired all the time.

The black she-kit blinked and tilted her head slightly to the side, she could only understand half of what he said between his whisper and rapid words.
"So it's Fischclaw--" she meowed, "do you always speak so quickly? You should breathe between sentences." The kit meowed as a matter-of-fact. Then lowering her tone she added, "Well that's what elders say..."
Her bluish orbs, for a moment, seemed distracted. She stared at the spot where the leader stood; she had a slight feeling that perhaps she should be quiet.

Vaporkit sat with his tail tucked neatly about his paws. His eyes were on the form of his leader, standing high over his head. Energy was thrumming through his body, pulsing in his veins. But he didn't show outward signs of his excitement. He remained stoic and poised, his head raised proudly as the sun reflected off his wispy grey-black-white fur. His cool green eyes stared at Brackenstar while his mind urged his leader to hurry up and get on with the ceremony. He wanted nothing more than to become an apprentice, and then later a warrior. It was his sole wish in all the world. Vaporkit fought to keep a neutral expression on his face, while his paws seemed to ache with the effort of keeping them still.

Ripplestream yawned and fought to keep his eyes open. He'd been on his paws since before dawn. Brackenstar had called the meeting just as he was about to settle down for a nap in the warriors den.
Flarespark noticed the yawn and smirked over at him. "Getting tired, old tom? I imagine you're having trouble keeping up with the younger warriors." A shadow next to him snorted. "Oh come on Jaystorm, you're just as old as Ripplestream."
Jaystorm scowled at his son. "I'm not so old that I wouldn't be able to floor you in a battle session. Don't tempt me to prove it, Flarespark." he growled lowly.
Violetheart came out of the nursury, her fur tossled from sleep. She's just woken up from her own nap, obviously. "What's going on?" she murmered, looking around. Then she saw Brackenstar on top of the Tall Rock, and deduced that it was a Clan meeting. "Oh dear..." She joined her Clanmates and looked down at Vaporkit. "Where are your siblings, Vaporkit? They should be sitting with you..."
Talonkit appeared right next to Vaporkit and glared at Violetheart. "I don't see where it's any concern of yours, Violetheart." he growled at her. His claws were unsheathed, but that was nothing new. His claws were always unsheathed.
Sleetkit came up right afterwards, appearing very apologetic on his brother's behalf. "I'm sorry for Talonkit's behavior, Violetheart. You know how he is." he meowed sheepishly.
The creamy queen smiled sweetly down at the kit. "It's quite alright, dear. Hopefully becoming an apprentice will help him loosen up."
A harsh laugh made Violetheart's gentle look become a glare, and she swung her head to see Galekit, the eldest of her second litter, saunter over. "I don't know if it's even possible for Talonkit to loosen up." He glared at the older tom with a sneer. "He'll always just be grumpy ol' Talonkit, no matter how old he is."

Emeraldkit rose to his paws, becoming more and more restless as his clanmates continued to fill up the clearing. He padded over to Vaporkit and sat beside him. None of my clanmates know that I'm going blind in one eye yet. he thought to himself. I shouldn't let it ruin my excitement for them. I'll be taking care of all of them one day. I should get to know them better. Emeraldkit's heart fluttered with pride when he thought of his clanmates relying on him to patch them up after battle, or cure the sick in camp.
I might even deliver their kits one day. he thought. I'll get to experience the life of all cats in the clan by being a medicine cat. Emeraldkit brightened up and lifted his head. "Do you know who your mentor will be? Is there a certain warrior you'd like?" he asked Vaporkit, trying to share in his experience.

Vaporkit glanced at Violetheart and was just about to ask her why in the name of StarClan he should always keep track of his siblings when Talonkit retorted for him. He shrugged and turned away, squaring his shoulders and muffling his excitement once more. He noticed Emeraldkit near his side before she said anything. When she asked her question, he contemplated it for a moment and then shrugged.
"So long as he or she is strong and a good mentor, I don't care." He meowed.

A lithe black tom slipped effortlessly through the growing group of RiverClan cats, and took his place at the edge of the crowd. After giving the clearing a quick and deliberate sweep of his yellow gaze, he sat and curled his tail neatly over his paws. The ceremony was a relief from an otherwise uneventful day, but Darkflame was not going to show it.
He sat up straight and held his head high, trying to look as professional as possible. This easily broken persona was a favorite of Darkflame's, although it was a little overused. The RiverClan warrior completed the pose by indifferently closing his eyes and pricking his ears in the direction of the leader.

Fish Claw noticed Brackenstar get up onto the rock, and silently and like an blur one second was back where he was originally. Looking up at Brackenstar and waiting patiently, while he looked at each cat or kit carefully, and tried to memories their facial expressions.

The black she-kit's ears perked as she heard the many meows of the other nursery kits. She recognized Violetheart and Galekit's meows--her kin, and she smiled eagerly, her tail up as she trotted up to them. She gave the other kits a long look, slightly jealous that they had her mother's attention. "I'm here too!" Melodykit meowed loudly, an innocent smile on her black maws, then, remembering to be polite, she purred "Hello everyone!"

ooc; let you guys wait long enough, and I don't think anyone else will post. So let's get started.
[Brackenstar]
The leader calmly looked at his clan gather under him. He allowed the little ones time to find each other and for the older ones to quiet down. Brackenstar cleared his throat, expecting silence. There was no need to raise his voice now, the clan already being there. Therefore, he spoke in his usual quiet tone of voice, "Riverclan has been going through some hard times. Leaf-bare hasn't fully left yet, and all of you already know about the problems with the fish." Unwrapping his tail from his paws, Brackenstar let it fall behind him, and continued. "However, by naming apprentices we show that Riverclan will survive and remain strong."
The tom looked down at his clan from the Tall Rock, a faint, proud smile playing on his muzzle. "Fernkit, Vaporkit, Talonkit, Sleetkit, Fish Claw and Emeraldkit, please step closer."

OOC:Laughingfox is going to become Boltpaw's mentor K Pure. As Fish Claw saw the confusion of hearing five names being called on every cat's face, he went to wait with the other kits who were going to become apprentice's. He heard other cats gasping, and others suddenly making whispering conversations, but kept his head and eyes towards Brackenstar.

A lithe ginger she-cat padded into camp, herbs clasped in her jaws. Flameheart took notice of the gathering cats and the kits padding forward. She realiazed that it was time for the apprentice ceremony. She respectfully took her place in the crowd and placed ther herbs at her paws.

Talonkit, being the oldest of the small gathering of kits, led the way forward. Sleetkit bounced along at his side, not bothering to hide his excitement. They were going to become apprentices! Talonkit sneered at his brother's enthusiasm and prowled forward until he was standing in front of the Tall Rock.
Violetheart smiled at the approaching ceremony, wrapping her tail around Galekit. Leaning down to whisper, she murmered, "That will be you someday, my precious kit. In 3 moons time, you and your siblings will all become apprentices."
The thought was enough that Galekit didn't mind his mother's tail around him. "I know, and I'll be a better apprentice than Talonkit can ever hope to be." He narrowed his eyes on the other kit, dislike making his pelt bristle.

Behind the commotion, a tiny head poked out of the Nursery. Most of the faces she saw were still unfamiliar to her because she had only joined RiverClan a few moons ago. From what her mother had told her, clan cats give the older warriors kittens to train, called apprentices. Pepperkit guessed that Brackenstar was calling the remaining kits that never seemed to be around to become apprentices. Feeling depressed, she slunk backward behind the dipped entrance of the thorn hut so no one could see her watching, but she kept a clear view of the ceremony because she knew in another moon it would be her up there, receiving her mentor.

Emeraldkit's flicked his ears and whirled his head up to his leader in astonishment. Had Brackenstar said his name? His heart fluttered in his tiny chest as he followed the other Riverclan kits forward, all of them looking quite larger than he was.
He could feel the air shivering around him and the familiar smell of his mother drifted over his scent glands. He suddenly felt so happy and energetic that he felt like he could fly. He sat off to the side of the other apprentices, figuring that they would get named to their mentors first.

Fogstorm peeked his head out of the warrior's den wondering what the commotion was about. With a shock he noticed that there was a ceremony going on, cursing himself out he padded over to the gathered cats. From the looks of it was going to be an apprentice ceremony. The misty gray tom stopped and sat beside the other gray tom, Stormpaw who looked at the warrior in turn offering a small twitch of his whiskers before the two returned their attention to Brackenstar and waited for the ceremony to continue. ooc; Before we continue, I need to know who will be RPing Howl's characters. (Fernkit and Fish claw (soon to be Boltpaw) )
If anyone wants to adopt one, please do so promptly so we can have the apprentice ceremony take place. If anyone wants Fernkit, do talk to Shiny. And if anyone wants Fish Claw..em... just say so, I guess. If no one wants him, I guess we'll just continue without him, no?
Please people, let's get this ceremony over with before the end of the month.

(Do we need someone to adopt them? I'd like Laughingfox to take over as Stormpaw's mentor if that is alright. I'm not sure that either cat has much of an important role...I think we should go on with the ceremony)
