Blizzardshard wanted nothing more than to be alone. It was late at night. He'd had another nightmare. They always ended the same way: Moonfrost standing over Shiningheart's broken and beaten body. His mate knew nothing of his nightly terrors, and he preferred it this way. So each time he woke from his bad dreams, he would creep away from the camp and walk through the forest by himself, returning just before dawn and never announced missing.
That was what he was doing now. Blizzardshard wandered the forest, eventually coming upon the Ancient Oak. Part of his wanted to climb up all the way, so see if he could touch the sky and call on StarClan. He shook his head and just sat on one of the roots, looking up and fixing his eyes on the brightest star he could find. "Brackenfang, I don't know if you can hear me, but I could really use some fatherly advice right about now..." he whispered to himself.

A sleek black tom slid from camp into the cool night air. Shadowblaze blinked his amber eyes and scanned the shadow filled forest, looking for any signs of life. He began padding toward the ancient oak, a place he liked to go to think.
He noted the shape of a cat sitting on a root at the base of the oak, he recognized it as Blizzard. "Hello Blizzardshard" he mewed.

Blizzardshard was beyond jumping in surprise when a Clanmate snuck up on him. He stared blankly at Shadowblaze, his amber eyes dull with tiredness. These late nights were really taking their toll on him. He finally sighed and forced his eyes to brighten with a smile on his face. "Hey Shadowblaze! What are you doing out here? I didn't expect anyone else to wander around after sundown."

Shadowblaze watched as his clanmate nearly jumped out of his pelt. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you" he apologized. "I'm just out clearing my head" he mewed "the night air always seems to help.""How about you?" he asked. Lately his thoughts had been centering around his late love, Silverrose. He missed her constantly, and only wished that she would come back to him. He found the night air comforting, as it was when Silverrose loved to be out most.

Blizzardshard would rip his own pelt to shreds before he ever admitted to any cat that he was chased out here by his subconscious. "Oh, you know, just... enjoying the lovely weather..." he offered with a forced smile. A sharp wind blew by, and Blizzardshard instinctively shivered. He forced his smile up a notch. "See? So bracing!"

Loud trampling noises were a prelude for Grizzlyclaw's entrance. The large, bulky tom brushed his way through the skeletal forms of trees, which were just beginning to grow small, green buds. His nose to the ground sniffing, Grizzlyclaw looked startled when he found two of his clanmates standing in front of him. His gaze wandered to Shadowblaze, then to Blizzardshard. Grizzlyclaw narrowed his eyes. "Your kits could use some counseling from their father." he meowed bluntly in his deep voice.
"Sunkit had some interesting questions for me earlier today." he continued with a challenging tone in his voice, mostly due to the fact that Grizzlyclaw was jealous and wanted kits of his own, but wasn't fully aware of it.
