Eye twitch. Eye twitch. Sandswirl's eye had not stopped twitching the entire day. When she woke up that morning, she just felt an irrational annoyance at the world. It wasn't helped that she'd gone on a hunting patrol and had been the only one to not catch anything. Then she'd been put on border patrol, and that had just been a waste of time. Now Sandswirl was staring at her reflection in the river and wondering if she should just jump in and drown herself.

Wildpaw rushed up to Sandswirl and ran in a circle while trying to get his breath back from running so hard. He kinda felt light headed and for a moment he couldn't tell why. Finally he realized it was because he had been running and is still running for no apparent reason so he stopped. However he managed to trip himself on the way and ended up on his back.
While getting his breath back he didn't move. He huffed and puffed and tried to calm himself down. Wow I haven't been that hyper in a while. Where does my energy come from anyway?
Finally he was able to stand up without killing himself. He felt a little dizzy and lightheaded. His mouth was dry and it was hard for him to breath. So before he did anything else he walked over to the river and took a long drink. When he finished he looked up at Sandswirl with an excited look.
"Hi Sandswirl! You look sad can I do something to make you feel better?" He asked happily. He hated seeing other cats so sad. Technically, Wildpaw was never really sad and knowing this he liked to make other sad cats feel better. So now he looked into Sandswirls eyes and smiled one of his famous hyper smiles.

No, they aren't on patrol. Sandswirl is just in the forest, staring at the water.
Sandswirl looked up in only half-interest when she heard a commotion. The interest perked up when she saw the apprentice Wildpaw running around in circles for apparently no reason. He soon flopped down(or, the more likely scenario, he tripped over his own paws) and then came over near her to drink. He spoke to her after he gulped some water, and Sandswirl's mind snapped. "That's it!" She meowed before she jumped into the river, fully intending to drown herself.
And now it's up to Wildpaw to smack some sense into her!

As Sandswirl jumpped into the water Wildpaw looked at her with a shocked expression on his face. What was she doing? Obviously she was trying to drowned or something. For Wildpaw this was something completely new and so for a couple of seconds Wildpaw watched with a blank stare. Was she REALLY trying to kill herself? Cats actually did that? Why would you want to die of your own free will. It just seemed insane.
And plus, what did he possibly do to make the warrior so mad? Even though he did constantly like to scare her out of her wits and watch his mentor Sparrowfeather go all google eyed over her just because she was a she-cat. It was kind of funny when he did that to all of the shecats, but hey What did Wildpaw do to make Sandswirl SOOO mad?
Finally he snapped out of this dream confusion state and decided to do something about it. Just because he was hyper and silly all the time didn't mean he was stupid. So now he had to think about something quick to make sure that he didn't end up having to explain a dead body. Especially when he was the only witness.
He looked around quickly while his mind was rushing, Constantly thinking of a plan. He wasn't named Wildpaw just because he was weird. He was named Wildpaw also because he was a quick thinker. He knew that he had to go in there after her and probably give her a piece of his mind for making his life miserable for the moment being.
He launched himself into the water and swam towards her. When he reached her he bit into her scruff REALLY hard between his teeth. Now technically this was supposed to be used to bring her up out of the water for her to get some air. The air she probably was refusing to get. At the same time it felt good to try to get her back to reality by giving her just alittle bit of pain.
When he got back to the shore he was surely going to yell and scream at her for doing that. Suddenly he got an idea. If pulling her out of the water didn't work then he would use some slightly different tactics.

Notes;; Hehe Wildpaw has and IDEA! He's going to scare her out of her wits if you decide to have her resist him.

And thus, she shall!
Sandswirl tried to shy away from Wildpaw. Bubbles drifted up from her muzzle, which was clamped shut. She glared at the apprentice with amber eyes, her tail bristling out as much as it could in the water. He would have to drag dead body out if he could!
Blah... bad post....

He glared back down at her. She wasn't helping and so Rushpaw would just have to do his other tactic to stop her. He let go and sighed at the sky. Great Starclan make her stop this foolishness... he thought to himself as he glared down at her with such furiosity that flame from his eyes could have burned into her fur. Wildpaw didn't get angry often, but when he did it wasn't too pretty. He stood there for a moment just the way he was. If she died it would be on his pelt. Not only would he have to tell Songstar that she was dead but he would be the one that hadn't been able to stop it, and Wildpaw knew that would hurt him and make him feel terribly guilty.
So this was his Wild card. [<-- lol Wild card] This was his chance to show this wreckless she-cat that she was worth more then what she thought and that she had NO place throwing her life away. So he shook his head and began to pace back out of the water. However before he reached the shore he plumited into a deeper end of the river. Being a younger apprentice he was small enough to be thought of as a drowning kit. He thrashed and created a circle of mud and crap around him hiding his body.
Finally he stopped thrashing, realizing that he really did need air. How long had he been under water while Sandswirl drowned herself? How long was he going to have to wait her out. Now he needed air. His eyes were starting to see spots and his vision started to fade. He wouldn't make it. He tried swimming to the top but he was now exahsted. He wasn't going to make it was he. This wasn't such a good idea anymore.
Finally he couldn't hold his breath any more, so he let it go. Water rushed into his mouth and his world went black.

Sandswirl nearly smiled as the weight of Wildpaw removed itself. Now all she had to do was wait. She sent a triumphant look to the bobbing body of the apprentice, then froze when she realized that bobbing body was drifting down stream. 'No no no no no!' she cried mentally, swiftly thrusting her paws toward the young cat. She was supposed to be the one to drown, not him! He still had so much to offer the Clan!
With that thought in mind, Sandswirl didn't even think as she grabbed his scruff and towed him up to the surface. Her weight was able to break through the swift current where his had failed, and she coughed while sucking in air. Silently cursing both herself for her stubbornness and Wildpaw for trying to save her, she brought herself and the tom to land and practically threw his body down on the ground. "Mouse-brain!" she yowled, using her paw to flip him onto his back. "I swear to StarClan, Wildpaw, if you died trying to save me, I will follow you and rip your pelt off!" She pressed an ear to his chest to listen to his breathing and heartbeat.
She panicked when she realized both were rather weak. "Oh no, I don't know how to do this!" she meowed, backing away with wide eyes. "StarClan, please, it's not his time yet..."

He couldn't breathe! He couldn't breathe not one touch of air. Great Starclan! Save me! Then he let it all out. He fell to the ground with the start of a coughing fit. He could feel the water splatter onto the dirt-ridden ground. After a few moments he stopped and found that there was no longer any water in his throat. Though his fur was soak and wet. He didn't know why but he couldn't stop trembling. He had almost died. He had almost drowned. That was one why of getting to Starclan that he didn't want to take. So why did Sandswirl want that.
With wide eyes he looked down at his paws. He could see them vibrate. With fear or cold he wasn't sure. Then he looked up at Sandswirl and his eyes widened even more. She had saved him. She had wanted him to live. Of course she wanted him to live. He was only an apprentice with much talent to offer the clan. What surprised Wildpaw was the fact that she had given up her death to save him. Was she going to just go right back into the water and try to drown herself again? If she did, he would just go right back in with her and cause all of the ruckus he could so that she couldn't concentrate on dieing.
He opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out, only a small whimper. At first he had anger in his eyes, then he just felt plain exahsted. So he sighed and layed his head on his paws with a fearful look in his eyes. Fearful... He had never really felt this feeling before. Not even when his mother died. When that happened all he felt was sorrow.
Finally he glanced up at her with an apologetic look in his eyes. She looked angry at him. He hadn't ment for it to get that far. He didn't want to die that way or any other way just yet.
"Sorry..." He muttered with a quiet voice for once. For once, he really didn't have anything to say.

Sandswirl will never be able to tell you exactly what came over her when she heard Wildpaw's weak apology. Some would call it maternal instincts, she would call it temporary insanity. The moment she heard him utter that one word, she tackled him, running her tongue fiercely on his head and shoulder to revive and warm him up. "Never scare me like that again!" she scolded. She stepped back to make sure he was really alright then pulled him up by the scruff and nudged him along. "Come on, we need to get you back to camp."
