The sky was dark blue with black clouds marbled into the blue, creating a velvet look. A few diamond-bright stars peaked out of the spaces where the clouds didn't cover and crescent moon would appear at times to reveal the red-and-white tabby pelt of thin shadow-clan apprentice. Her pale gold eyes glowed white in the darkness of the night as she lept around, sometimes twisting in air and sometimes falling onto her stomach or back only to swing back up and lash out at a creature that others could not see. The tabby's pelt almost seemed purple in the blue light of the moon as i came out once more. This tabby's name was Redpaw and she trained constantly, night or day. "Fox dung!" The she-cat hissed, getting up and shaking the dust and grass out of her fur from falling wrong. "I gotta figure out how to land!" The red-and-white tabby stepped slowly through the steps she saw in her head. "No no no no!" Redpaw snarled at herself. "That's still not right." She sighed, ears pressing back in frustration. "And not a single warrior is out at this time, so I can't find anyone out and the warriors would claw apart my ears if I woke them up." The red tabby flopped down, sitting to watch the stars. After a short pause, the she-cat stood once more, practicing the move a few more times. "whoa!" Redpaw wobbled of a second, but stayed standing. "Yes! I finally landed it!" The red-and-white tabby sighed. But any warrior could trip me with how I had to catch my balanace....How can I land without falling or wobbling?" The she-cat walked out the steps once more. "I'll get it if I have to train all night!" She told herself.

Pale yellow orbs glittered in the blackness. Shadowmask sometimes took walks at night, but he moved so silently and stealthily that he never disturbed a soul. Even if he did, his clanmates left the mysterious senior warrior to his solitude. The Shadowclan watched on in amusement and pride as the apprentice continued to improve her fighting moves with determination.
"You might retain your lessons better during the day if you allowed yourself to rest at night." he meowed in his low, dark voice, revealing himself. "The trick is to land more squarely on all four paws before you rear back on your hind legs." he offered gently. "Imagine landing on something specific and focus on where your paws land." he advised.

The red tabby apprentice jumped away from the voice, hissing in surprise with her fur floofed to twice her size. "O-oh..." She calmed down, panting. "I cant sleep until I get all the moves right. I'm gonna be the best warrior in the whole forest!" Determination and ambition were the only thing that showed in her eyes. "Ah? Squarely?" Redpaw let her head flop for a second. Why haden't she thought of that? It didn't help that she didn't have a mentor, though. Someone might tell her some extra stuff in she did.
"Thank you, Shadowmask." The red-and-white tabby did as he had instructed, once again doing the move. She fell sideways into a roll and then lept up into the air, landing squarely onto a spot. The red apprentice then turned and reared up, lashing out at nothing. "Hah! I got it!" Redpaw blinked. "Ah....but if I landed on the cat's back and then used my claws to leap off of it, I could attack two cats at once..." She turned to Shadowmask. "Sound like it would work?" The apprentice was obviously grateful to have an older cat to consult.

"Good warriors can't be tired on their paws all the time from training." Shadowmask advised, though he knew his words would be fruitless at the moment. Amusement danced in Shadowmask's eyes, but other than that, his face remained as expressionless as always. "Try it on me." he meowed, dropping into a fighting crouch. "And let's see."

(sorry it took me so long! Lost my internet connection!!)
"I know, Shadowmask." Redpaw sat infront of the tom, sighing. "But I don't have a mentor and the warriors are so buisy that I have to train at night to keep up." The red tabby huffed. "Believe me! I dun wanna train at night and be all tired like this."
Redpaw jumped up and got ready the moment the dark tom offered. The young cat took only as much time as she needed to get int he right position before leaping, aiing to land on his back, facing eather way. Which ever worked for her to try it. The she-cat was thin, but taller than alot of her fellow apprentices. ((sort of short....))

Shadowmask nodded. "No mentor yet? We'll have to change that." he meowed. His eyes flickered back and forth, watching Redpaw get into position. She's stealthy on her paws. he thought, watching her glide quickly before she jumped in the air. Shadowmask felt his muscles tense and released them, trying not to anticipate Redpaw landing on him. He grunted as the apprentice landed on his back, unsure yet how approximately she landed.

Redpaw landed a little off center, but mde up for it, by pretending that she indended her back paw to go down his flank before jumping off of him and swiping at another 'warrior'. The red she-cat had only used as much claw as it took to stay on when she slipped and hoped that she hadn't hurt him. "Change it?" She asked, turning to look at him. Redpaw blinked, hoping he meant what she had thought. "You....would wanna train me?" The she-cat asked, ears perked hopefully.

Shadowmask blinked warmly at the apprentice. "We can ask Eclipsedstar when we get back to camp. I just finished mentoring Stardust, so I am open to take a new apprentice. I'm sure he won't mind." he meowed, rising to his paws from the crouched position he was in.
"Now, try it again. Let's see if you can land squarely on my back. Focus on the area between my shoulder blades and aim for it while you are in the air." he advised, dropping his belly to the ground again.

Redpaw almost started hopping like a kit, but stopped herself when he spoke agian. "Kay. But this time, I wanna see what kind of defence the other cat might do." The red tabby licked her white chest once and then gave a confident smirk to her to-be mentor. "Fight back this time. I'm sure I can do it."
After saying this, the she-cat rolled to the side as if attacked before leaping at Shadowmask, intending to do as she had done before without nearly falling off. Redpaw's eyes were focused between his shoulders and only flashed away from it when she thought she saw him move to counter.

Shadowmask waited until the exact moment that Redpaw landed on him and rolled to his side, tumbling the apprentice off balance. He leaped to his paws, ready to strike. "If you don't have th element of surprise, you have to be ready to move as your opponent does." he cautioned. "If your enemy's weight shift beneath you, you have to be ready to move with it. Let's try it again and be ready to jump opposite the way I roll." he suggested.
