Shimmerpaw of Thunderclan died as an apprentice.
That was thirty seven moons ago.
She has now been forgotten.
And there is nothing she can do about it.
Shimmerpaw died when she was only ten moons old, thus not giving her time to do much of anything to be remembered by. Thirty seven moons later she has been forgotten by everyone but her family, and that has started to take its toll. She has started to fade. However, she has started to fade much faster then normal.
No one knows why for sure, however there is a theory going around Starclan, a theory that she died before her time. She had a whole life and destiny ahead of her but died when she was not meant to. Because of this she has started to fade away in Starclan, it seems that if she can not complete her destiny she will not be around at all.
The idea of fading scares Shimmerpaw so she looks for help. She contacts her family and tells them that she is fading and does not know why. They agree to try to help her, even though they know that there is not much they can do.
One day when visiting in her family in their dreams she somehow ends up in another cats dream, the dream of a Thunderclan apprentice. She talks with the apprentice and forms a friendship with him. It is not long until she realizes something, she has fallen in love, fallen in love with a living cat.
She meets another cat as well due to yet another wrong turn in a dream. This she-cat is a Thunderclan apprentice who happens to be the toms friend. They quickly become friends and the she-cat agrees to help her.
Shimmerpaw tells her family about her meetings with these two cats and tells a few family members about her attraction towards the tom. Some are happy for her but some do not approve, saying she should not be forming feelings like that given her current situation.
While she does not like this she does see some truth to it and tries to end her relationship with the tom. However, it hurts her to much to be away from him and it makes her fade faster, maybe he has something to do with her destiny?
Shimmerpaw and the tom get back together.
One night when she is visiting the she-cat she finds that something is troubling her but her friend refuses to tell her what it is.
By this time Shimmerpaw is almost gone and her friends and family are scared for her while Shimmerpaw has almost given up, believing it to late for her. The toms does not like it when she says this and attempts to cheer her up.
Shimmerpaw's time has come, she is almost completely gone and has less then twenty four hours left. She visits her friends and family one last time, spending most f her time with the tom. Suddenly she vanishes from the dream and has a horrible tearing feeling, has she faded away?
No, she has been taken somewhere else.
She finds herself looking at her friend who had just been bitten by an adder and is about to die. A moment before she dies she looks at Shimmerpaw who is is able to see when awake due to being so close to death and says, "my destiny was to make sure you'res continues."
Before Shimmerpaw can say anything her friend dies and she feels a a horrible sucking feeling. When she opened her eyes she discovered something both horrifying and relieving, she was in her friends body. The only difference besides the wounds that should have been fatal, and unknown to the rest of the clan where, the shimmering sheen to her pelt that had not been there before.
Shimmerpaw is alive again, but alive in her friends body. This causes a little tension between her and the tom for the she-cat was his friend to. At least it does until she comes to them in a dream.
She explains that the only reason she was alive she to give Shimmerpaw a second chance, if she did not die before Shimmerpaw died she would have been yanked out of existence. Why? Her friend had been reincarnated as well, although she did not know until she was about to die. But she was not from Starclan, she was from the dark forest.
This was her second chance, if she succeeded she would go to Starclan and possibly get a second chance at life later on, but if she failed she would fade away in seconds. She also explains one more thing before she left, why Shimmerpaw started to fade away faster in the time she and the tom where broken up. She and the tom are soul mates.
And so, Shimmerpaw gets her second chance at life and one more chance to fulfill her destiny.
