Name: Leafvoice
Age: 23 moons
Gender: Female
Clan: SkyClan
Position: Warrior
Physical Description: Small in stature, this cat does not hold a threatening disposition. Her tabby pelt clings tightly to her jagged form, only rounding around her muscled limbs. She's rather light in color, a pale gray dancing with off whites--though her stripes do strike some darkness of black along the length of her body. Despite the bland array of colors in her furs, her eyes display a much different expression--pale yellow around the edges, darkening to a Newleaf green towards the pupil (which is what lead to the beginning piece of her name). So small in size, heavy with muscles, and mixed in color hues.
Personality: Despite her insignificant size, this sheila can make herself heard. The stem of her name is 'voice' with good reason; she's loud and she's proud. Tempermental and spontaneous, Leafvoice can often be seen in trouble. She tries to be respectful, but she lacks the filter that is usually trained into cats during apprentice days. Due to this fact, Leafvoice has learned to be solitary. Her words can sometimes sting and cold others, which is never the intention. A kind cat at heart, she only wishes to help her bretherin--but they don't want to be helped (in her mind). Her heart says they need to find the Clans that Firestar spoke about those many moons ago, and join their forest realm. Though her family disagrees, she is persistant. Leafvoice, once on a mission, will either succeed or die trying.
Even with all that said, no one could ever question her loyalties. Leafvoice would willingly throw aside her life for the most vile of her clanmates. That is where her dedicated nature comes in handy--the Clan's mission is her own mission (on top of her mission to unite SkyClan with the other Clans).
History: When born, Leafvoice was unnamed for the obvious reason--she had no special appearance about her. How could a mother name her kitten with nothing to go off of? Her ma hadn't wanted to be like the other lame queens who, if not inspired upon a name, simply took a word like Rock and said "my little Rockkit". No, the name had to be perfect.
It wasn't until the eyes were opened that Leafvoice was named. Seeing the yellows and greens, her ma leapt on the word leaf. "My precious Leafkit!" Those were the first words the kit had been able to hear. As she grew, her language became advanced above that of her pairs. Where her mates battled each other and worked on their muscle, Leafkit would practice her words. Her first coherent sentence was insulting, without her meaning for it to be. "My name is actually quite pitiful, don't you agree, Mother? I mean, Leafkit. It is unimaginative, to say the least." Her mother had been taken aback before frowning at her only daughter.
"Your name was a carefully considered name, given to me by the Stars. Be greatful, my Daughter."
It wasn't long afterwards that Leafkit became Leafpaw. Thought she still was more interested in talking than battling, the girl did her best to appease her mentor. "Not to be rude, Leafpaw, but you have such an insignificant amount of muscle mass. It is almost like you have never battled with the other kits." Her mentor spoke the words humorously, amused by the foolishness of the words.
"I haven't, Sir. I find being a brute and fighting my pairs to be demeaning. I would much prefer advancing in my language." Her mentor had stared in shock at his mentor, before scowling.
"You're a fine example of a curse from the Stars, Leafpaw. A cat who doesn't fight is barely a cat at all." The words hurt the young apprentice, but inspired her to word harder than the others her age. She couldn't disapoint her mother and mentor--she just couldn't. However, she would speak her disapproval of the activities as she did them. Always talking.
The day she became a warrior was a bittersweet experience. Leafpaw had lost her mother a few sunrises earlier and was still grieving with the loss. But her leader was kind and tried to joke with the Clan to bring Leafpaw's mind away from the empty seat in the crowd that should have held her mother. "Any remarks about how silly this ceremonies are, Leafpaw?" The leader had chuckled, knowing the apprentice was fond of speaking her mind.
"Actually, yes, Sir. I see no reason for such legalistic tactics. Like the loners, we should carry a single name through life, and train to be the best we can in what ever area we choose. I, Sir, would love to be a teacher of language arts, rather than battle." Leafpaw looked to his smirking face, and then down at the rolling eyes and smirking faces of her Clan. "But that is a suggestion falling on deaf ears, isn't it?" Again she turned to her leader with humoring eyes.
"It is, dear Leafpaw. It is." And with those words, the ceremony had proceeded in the typical way, the leader laughing to the sky as he gave Leafpaw the name Leafvoice. The Clan had broken into laughter at the name the ancestors had chosen for the young shecat, but Leafvoice was blind to their amusement--she was a warrior, now. Not the strongest, but she knew how to talk. And there was one other thing she knew--some battles are only won with words.
