Three colleagues are on a business trip when their car breaks down. Fortunately, they are in a town and just go to an inn. They decide to share a room and split the bill. A room costs $30 and so each pay $10.
The next morning, the manager realizes he overcharged them because it was discount Tuesday. The room was only $25 that night and so he sent his assistant over with the extra five dollars.
The men, deciding to be fair, each took back a dollar and gave the other two to the assistant as cash. So each man paid 10, but got a dollar back so they only paid 9.
9x3=27 + 2 (the assistant's)=29. Where's the other dollar?

There was $25 for the room $1 for each of the colleagues = 1x3 $2 for the assistant
25+(1x3)+2= 30
