History:
Violetheart's first memory is that of a dark enclosed space. She was born in a broom closet, only kit to a kittypet named Cuddles. She never knew who her father was. Cuddles would simply tell her that he was from their neighborhood. Cuddle's twolegs named her Violet for her dark blue eyes, and the name stuck. She was six moons when she was given away to an elderly couple. She never saw her mother again.
6 moons-12 moons
The Violetheart of her past was as different from the Violetheart now as you are from me. She was quite happy to leave her twoleg's nest and roam about, exploring. That was how she met Harry, a light brown tabby tom with a white underbelly. He was around her age, give or take a few moons. At first, the two were cautious around each other. That didn't last long. They soon were best friends doing nearly everything together. They even once flushed a rabbit from hiding and caught it.
Then disaster struck, as it usually does in these types of stories. No one died, or anything tragic like that. Harry's twolegs moved, and took him with them. Violetheart still sometimes has dreams of him being carried away in the cage and his final parting words: "I'll come back, I promise! I'll find you, just wait for me!" She doesn't know to this day if he's still with his twolegs or just lost somewhere. But she believes that she'd feel it if he were dead.
13 moons-now
The loss of her best friend hit her head. Her appetite for food was as gone as her appetite for adventure. She knew she was worrying her twolegs with her lack of eating, but she couldn't find it in her to care. The only times she went outside anymore was to make dirt, and she never went any farther than the front or back garden. Hunger eventually drove her to food, but she only ate what she need to survive.
The memory was still strong six moons later, when she met Jay the loner. She'd been outside, making dirt, when she smelled the blood. For the first time since Harry had gone, Violet left the safety of her garden and followed her nose. What she found nearly made her sick. A black-pelted tom was bleeding heavily. If the wounds continued like that, he would die before the moon was high in the sky. When the cat opened his eyes, they were the most startling shade of glittering ice-blue.
They stared at each other for a bit, bright blue into dark blue. Then he closed his eyes and fell unconscious. Violet dragged him by the scruff to her garden and yowled her head off until her housefolk emerged. They came out, stared at the tom, and immediately carried him inside.
When he regained consciousness a few days later, he told her his name was Jay. He was a loner, traveling to exotic places and meeting different cats. When her housefolk tried to feed him, he turned his nose up at Violet's usual food and said he'd rather 'face starvation than eat that slop'.
So the next time Violet went out, she caught him a mouse from the nearby forest. Oh, how funny his face was when she dropped it in front of him. She had a good laugh for the first time since Harry had gone. Jay was grateful enough to let her have first bite.
From then on, the two had a steady relationship, something close to friendship. Though Violet still mourned the loss of Harry, she reminded herself that he wasn't the only cat in the world. She had to do what was best for her too, even if it meant moving on. So she slowly worked at making Jay her new best friend. She would catch his food for him, and he would tell her about the things he'd seen, the cats he met, and the adventures he's had. The two would stay up long into the night, so absorbed into the stories. Jay seemed happy to talk about his travels. He told of misty forests and rolling valleys and mountains as high as the sky.
Violet was enraptured. She listened with an excitement she never felt before, even when exploring with Harry. Every word he spoke, every picture he painted, was a thing of beauty to her. And this handsome tom had seen it all! He never objected when she interrupted with a question. He would wait while she ooh-ed and aah-ed over the visions and ranted and raved about the cats he'd fought. It wasn't long until their fondness for stories turned into fondness of each other.
Soon, Violet became pregnant with Jay's kits. She believed that her housefolk would care for her kits as well as her mother's had cared for her. Instead, once Jay was healed, they abandoned them both at the edge of what they now both know as RiverClan territory. A patrol found them both, and brought they back to the camp. Violet became Violetheart, and Jay chose the name Jaystorm.
3 moons later, a single ginger tom was born. He was given the name Flarekit. He was trouble right from the start, always trying to sneak away and always talking back to his mother. He was no better as an apprentice. Violetheart watched as her son became so mean that no one went anywhere near him, and he seemed to like the solitude. When he became Flarespark at 13 moons, Violetheart moved back into the nursery.
Another 3 moons later, three more kits joined the Clan. They named the eldest Galekit, both because Jaystorm had a dream and because he was a silver tom with abnormal white tabby markings. The only she-cat was named Melodykit, after Jaystorm's mother. The last kit was named Spiderkit, for no other reason than because it's cool.
