It didn't matter that Radge wasn't as handsome as other toms. It didn't matter that he was slow at running and occasionally missed prey because of bad aiming. It didn't matter that he was not some fluffed up pedigree that had his food served in a silver dish either. Radger was finally accepted for who he was and that was the most important thing of all to him. After his previous rejection, Emberpaw's friendship was like the sun breaking through the dismal storm clouds of this tom's lonesome life. He had finally found true acceptance.

Emberpaw finally felt like she belonged somewhere. It didn't matter to Radge that she was clumsy and could barely catch a mouse. He only saw what she could do and praised her and helped her improve her skills. He worked with her, teaching her how to control her lanky legs and how to catch prey properly. He helped her love her life again and saved her from her torturous life in the hate-fillled ShadowClan. Radge saw the light in her and actually enjoyed her company. If she could change her life, she wouldn't, she finally had what she wanted. Belonging.

The night was growing old and they still hadn't bothered to hunt. They'd been in the process when they suddenly became sidetracked with the sunset and had ended up sitting next to one another watching as the sun when down and the stars came out. It didn't matter that they were still hungry, they were happy to just lay there with one another while the world around them fell into darkness. Before, Radge would never have waited to eat to watch the sun set, but now he was finding that with Emberpaw he was perfectly, wonderfully, content.
