"Oh..." Gatheringclouds absently glanced out of the cave, wondering why he suddenly wished it was still raining. "Sure" he meowed, twitching his whiskers. "It will be nice to have the rain cool things down. It's been getting hot this past moon!" His thoughts began to drift back to camp and his duties. "Shoot. Maybe we should catch something on the way back. I'm afraid I haven't been too helpful to the clan today..." he meowed with a guilty glance.

Lilithnight laughed good-naturedly.
"I doubt either of us have, but who could blame us really? That storm probably sent prey back to their holes. But we shall give it our best shot!" She said with a determined grin, rising and padding out into the damp air. Glancing around, Lilith was content to look on the shimmering droplets of water as signs of life instead of nuisances as some cats did. She enjoyed a good rainfall - at least when she was not sitting out under it.

Gatheringclouds nodded and padded out. The scent of rain and fresh foliage was overpowering. It was refreshing, but not the best for scenting prey. "hmm..." he meowed, waddling off in a hunting crouch. Everything he brushed sent droplets of water cascading down him. "Alright." he meowed, wiggling his nose to free a raindrop. "Maybe we'll look when we get closer to the camp!"

Lilithnight glanced around her. She tried to taste the air on her tongue, but the damp scent of the air coated her senses and made distinguishing prey-smell impossible. She glanced at Gatheringclouds and couldn't help a small smile at his funny expression and the gleam of water on his fur.
"Okay," she meowed good-naturedly, quite willing to hunt among the rocks, which wouldn't be quite so hazardous as the forest.

Gatheringclouds nodded and smiled as he padded beside Lilithnight. "You know, I am glad that you found me at Skycatcher's den...as nervous as I was..." he let out a little trill of laughter. "I am glad to get to know one of my clanmates better." he fixed her with a warm gaze before padding slightly ahead.
The tom halted suddenly. "Whoa." he meowed. He glanced over his shoulder at Lilithnight. "Look at this!" he meowed. A large expanse of water stretched out before the two warriors and the upward expanse to the way back to camp. "What should we do? I have no idea how deep it is..." he meowed, rippling the surface of the water with a dab of his paw.

Lilithnight glanced at the water, frowning slightly. It would take a long time to get back to camp, and there was no way they'd find prey in this mess. She sighed and shook her head.
"I'm not sure there's much we can do," she said wearily, "It looks as if all that's left to do is search for some way to get back to camp. I hope everyone is alright..." She murmured worriedly.

Gatheringcloud's eyes widened. He hadn't thought about the camp flooding. He shot a concerned glance at Lilithnight and glanced around. It would be slow progress trying to find places along the canyon wall to go up and over. "Maybe we should try the farthest edges. Those should be the most shallow." he padded over to the right side and inched his paws into the puddle. "No good." he called to his clanmate with a sigh. "Looks like if we want to get home we'll have to get wet again, and I'm no Riverclan cat."

Lilithnight wasn't all that sure she understood what he meant by "RiverClan cat", but she had heard tales of the other Clans that lived far from SkyClan's borders. She supposed RiverClan cats must like to swim, if they were named for a river. Glancing up at the trees, Lilith decided the best thing to do was find some higher ground.
"Well," she meowed, "I think there's only one option then." Coiling herself into a tight ball, she sprang with surprising power, hooking onto the low branch of a nearby pine tree. She climbed higher until she was standing on one of the higher branches. Then she leaped into the air, falling a few feet before landing solidly on the bough of a nearby oak. Glancing down at Gatheringclouds, she smiled, waiting to see what he would do.

Gatheringcloud's breath caught in his throat as he watched Lilithnight soar through the air. She could jump much, much higher than he could, but his powerful limbs would be good for climbing, anyway. He sighed with relief as she moved safely among the trees, but he still felt nervous watching her. "Hang on, I'm coming!" he huffed as he scrabbled up the tree. He felt the higher branches swaying under his heavier weight, and wanted to get off of them as soon as possible. "What a view!" he meowed.

Lilithnight waited until he had caught up to her. Glancing down at the wet ground, she nodded in agreement to his exclamation. SkyClan's territory was glorious after a good storm. The leaves seemed to sparkle and the rocks glistened with wet, looking like pieces of dark rock that reflected the sky. She turned to Gatheringclouds and smiled.
"I think I know a good path through the trees. Curse showed it to me the other day." She looked around them and noticed a thick branch just below, connected to a stout oak. Gathering herself up, she leaped for it and landed easily, then she turned and waited for her companion to join her.

"Curse?" Gatheringclouds inquired. The she-cat always seemed so morose and withdrawn, he couldn't imagine her spending time with anyone, let alone jumping through trees like this. "She's your sister, right?" Gatheringclouds huffed as he jumped after Liilithnight.
(If you want, I thought it might be interesting if one of them fell out of the tree and ran to Curse for help by the river... it's up to you, though.)
Now that he thought of it, he had seen the she-cats leave camp together multiple times. Knowing that the two didn't converse much with the other clan cats and he doubted they would with him, it was a out of sight out of mind kind of thing. Gatheringclouds jumped again and gasped as his hind foot slid on the slippery bark. He dug his front claws into the branch and scrambled to get his hind quarters back on the branch.

OOC: Sure. I wouldn't mind. Do you want Lilith to fall then or Gatheringclouds?
BIC: Lilithnight smiled.
"Yeah. My sister is always trying to find new ways to get around. She likes to know her surroundings really well." After she'd stopped speaking, Lilith turned and watched Gatheringclouds leaping onto the branch. She gasped when he slipped and almost fell, leaving him clinging onto the branch. Rushing forward, she stooped and tried to fix her teeth in his scruff.

(Lilith could fall, then he would have an excuse to find Cursedangel to report it, which may or may not make her aggravated/shocked to find her sister out with a tom)
Gatheringclouds tried to slow his breath and focus as Lilithnight's scruff met his neck. He focused on pulling himself up, his fur burning with embarrassment. Some tom you are! he accused himself wretchedly. Determined to prove himself, Gatheringcloud pulled himself up unexpectedly with more force than expected. Glancing up to look at Lilithnight, his eyes widened in horror as he saw her unbalanced, her front arms gracefully churning through the open air, unable to grasp anything solid. No! Please don't fall! he thought in terror.
"Lilithnight!" he cried, reaching his arms out to wrap around her. He felt her weight suddenly pulling on his front claws and he winced, trying with all his might not to lose her. "Hold on!" he begged.

Lilithnight squeaked in alarm when she felt the branch lurch under her paws. She felt herself falling backwards, and for a moment it was as if time had slowed. Then she felt Gatheringclouds's paws gripping her shoulders. Glancing down, Lilithnight felt her belly clench when she saw just how high she was. Thrashing with her hind paws, Lilithnight fought to gain some grip, but all she managed to do was slip farther out of Gatheringclouds's paws.
"I'm sorry," she said, her voice shaking, "I can't hold on anymore." She closed her eyes tightly as Gatheringclouds's claws finally slipped, sending her rocketing towards the forest floor. She tried to right herself so that she could land on her paws, but her body hit a branch on the way down, knocking her unconscious. She plummeted to the ground, then lay still in a small puddle of water at the base of the tree.

Gatheringcloud's fiery orange eyes widened in undisguised panic. "No, you have to" he cried, he strained to hold on, though he knew it was futile as she continued slipping through his paws. He winced as he felt her slip from his grasp, momentarily squeezing his eyes shut. This can't be happening. I don't deserve to be a warrior. I'm so sorry. He felt his spirits plummet with every hair that she fell, felt as though he was letting down everyone he had ever cared about.
The young tom bounded down the tree, the blood pounding in his ears, his heart iced with terror. Please don't be dead. I could never live with myself. Please don't be dead. Please, please. He had raced to the bottom of the tree quickly, but it was such a long way down...and Lilithnight, so delicate. Gatheringclouds froze, he wanted to scream when he saw her lying so peacefully at the bottom of the tree, her tail tip resting in a puddle. Gatheringclouds saw through the eyes of his kithood again and saw his mother lying dead in the center of camp. He kept asking the medicine cat repeatedly how she could be dead when she just looked like she was sleeping.
Gatheringclouds choked out a sob as he padded up to Lilithnight and pushed his nose in her fur. Please come back. I wanted to get to know you better. Gatheringclouds felt a faint pulse vibrating against his nose. Full of adrenaline and hope, he gingerly picked up Lilithnight and placed her in the safety of a nearby hollow in the gorge. "I will come back for you, I promise. I won't let you down." he sent a silent prayer up to his parents to protect his clanmate before racing off for help.
