Drizzlekit brought himself forward slowly, pawstep by pawstep by pawstep. He tried to copy the hunter's crouch he'd seen the apprentices practice, but knew he didn't have it quite right. His prey was just sitting there, completely unsuspecting that it was about to be caught. One more step... and... "Ha, gotcha!" he cried, pouncing on his quarry.

Hazekit was sunbathing, her paws tucked beneath her chest and her tail resting just beside her, its tip curled contentedly. Suddenly she heard a voice and turned just in time to see Drizzlekit as he landed on her. The breath rushed from her lungs as she was propelled onto her back. She shoved him off and glared at him.
"I'm not a piece of fresh-kill, Drizzlekit." She pointed out, sticking her nose up a little bit as she looked at him with hot pale brown eyes.

Drizzlekit snorted at his denmate. He hated the way she was looking down at him. Seriously, they were the same size! "You might as well be, the way you lie around the camp all day!" He crouched down, lips pulled into a cocky smile. "Bet you a mouse you can't pin me down, Hazekit!" Then he pushed off his powerful hind legs and attempted to land on her shoulders.

The whiskers above Hazekit's left eye rose slightly as she watched him, her expression skeptical. So he thought she couldn't do anything, did he? Well she'd prove him wrong. When he leaped at her, she rolled out of the way, her body moving like a wave, graceful and practiced. She stood up, her long legs making her look bigger than she actually was.
"You were saying, clumsy paws?" She smirked at him.

Drizzlekit clenched his teeth when his paws hit the ground. He glared up at Hazekit and hissed, "Still have to pin me, slow slug!" He used their close proximity to tackle her and roll her onto her back, pummeling her belly with sheathed paws. "Ha, try to push me off now!" he crowed with a laugh.

Hazekit grunted when he tackled her. She was glad she had the strong hind legs of ancient SkyClan. She eased her hindlegs beneath her, then thrust upward into his gut, hoping either to shove him off or wind him, at least.

Hazekit's hind paws hit home. Drizzlekit's breath rushed out of him as he sailed away from the other kit and landed a tail length away, lying on his back. He lay there for less than a heartbeat before rising to his paws, beginning to pant a little. "That all you got? Come on, Hazekit, fight harder!" He pressed his chest to the ground, raising his behind in the air in preparation to pounce again.

Hazekit's expression turned mocking.
"Oh? I thought I was defending myself." She said sarcastically. Then a mischevious look entered her eyes. She darted forward, lashing out with her paw as she rushed past Drizzlekit, hooking her leg so as to trip him.

It was the mischief in her eyes that first tipped Drizzlekit. When she leaped for him, he was ready. He raised himself on his hind paws and allowed himself to flop to the side lazily, smirking when Hazekit just sailed right past him. "You're doing both, mouse-brain! Defending yourself and trying to pin me." he meowed with a twinkle in his eye.

Hazekit turned, flicking her tail.
"Oh? I see. Both." She tilted her head to one side, considering him. He was skilled, and was good at reading moves in other cats' eyes, or so it seemed. So I have to fake him. She thought. Hazekit made a move to strike his left side, but then swerved in a graceful side-step, throwing her weight to the side to unbalance him. It would work as long as her left-ploy had tricked him.

Drizzlekit was the type of kit that was thrilled at competition. He met confrontation head on. When Hazekit feinted to the left, he leaped to meet her, realizing half-a-second too late that she had changed direction. He attempted to stop in mid-air, floundering around at nothing, and landed on his paws. But his front left paw hit the ground awkwardly and Drizzlekit clenched his teeth to stifle a hiss when he felt it twist. His body flopped to the side, being unable to hold his weight.

Hazekit saw that Drizzlekit was down. She turned and threw herself on him, pressing her paws into his shoulder and side to keep him down.
"So what now?" She asked playfully, her eyes sparkling with humor.

Hazekit's added weight was causing even more pressure on his hurt paw. Still, he'd be sent to the Dark Forest before he gave in because of one stupid injury! So Drizzlekit clenched his teeth against the pain and wriggled around, until he was on his back. He knew he wasn't in the best position to use the strength of his hind legs, and he couldn't used his front paws to shove her off. So Drizzlekit did the next best thing he could.
He brought his head forward and headbutted the other kit.

Hazekit's head jerked back as Drizzlekit's blow hit her chin. She staggered back, her world spinning for a moment. She tried to clear her field of vision but everything seemed to be shaking. She dug her claws in, attempting to steady herself, knowing that Drizzlekit probably hadn't given up.

Drizzlekit took a sharp intake of breath and leaped to his paws, turning to face Hazekit. His weakened paw made it so that he had to favor his uninjured leg. He crouched on the ground to make it less obvious, hissing at Hazekit to egg her on. "Come on Hazekit. Stop fighting like a kittypet!" He hoped the taunt wouldn't get her too angry. Despite the new pain, he was having fun with this playfight!

Hazekit narrowed her eyes at him, focusing. Her vision was starting to return, and she noticed that, for one reason or other, Drizzlekit's weight was not properly distributed. She decided she'd strike the side that was stronger, hoping to off-balance him enough to role him over. She darted forward, putting her plan into action by ramming her shoulder against his, pushing with her hind legs to get a bit of momentum from the earth.

The pain was slowing him down. Drizzlekit was only 4 moons old, he didn't have a lot of experience with pain. But this was worse than anything he'd experienced before! If he even put a tiny bit of pressure on his paw, it would send pain lancing up his entire leg. Hazekit's tackle did indeed set him off balance. He fell, being suspended in mid-air for less than a heartbeat, and landed with his entire body weight on his injury.
The pain was worse this time. He yowled sharply in both pain and surprise as his entire body crumbled to the ground. Drizzlekit lay there panting for a bit before forcefully picking himself up. He kept his paw off of the ground and turned to face his denmate, eyes narrowed and teeth clenched. "Warriors do not give in to pain..." he hissed to himself. "Stop being such a wuss!"

Hazekit noticed the way Drizzlekit favored his paw. She examined the expression on his face as he yowled in pain. Mousebrain, why didn't he say he was hurt? Hazekit thought, angry now.
"Stop fighting if you're hurt, mouse-brain!" She chided, frowning, as she took a couple steps back.

Drizzlekit drew his lips back in a silent snarl. "Warriors don't give in to such a pitiful injury!" He was suddenly picked up by the scruff, and he squeaked in surprise. "Hey!" He glared up to see the warrior Sandswirl carrying him. "Put me down, Sandswirl! I don't need help!"
Sandswirl suddenly dropped him and glared down. "Warriors also know when to accept help when they need it!"

Hazekit looked up at Sandswirl, grateful she'd stopped the rambunctious kit before he'd hurt himself worse. She relaxed her stance, though she couldn't meet the older cat's eyes - she was guilty over hurting Drizzlekit, even if she hadn't really meant to.
"Hazekit! What's wrong?" Hazekit turned to see her two brothers, Longkit and Lionkit, rushing over to her from the nursery. They'd told her they were going to practice hunting moves together, but she knew they just wanted to talk about whatever things toms thought to talk about without their sisters present. She shrugged and looked at Drizzlekit.
"He got hurt while we were playing." She said, trying not to sound defensive.
"Hmph. Well he probably asked for it." Longkit sniffed. Hazekit's ears flicked back against her skull and she glared at her brother, knowing he only meant to ease her guilt, but also knowing he sounded like a jerk.
"Shut it, Longkit," Lionkit interceded before she could say anything.

Drizzlekit nearly flinched at the sound of the other kits' voices. It was bad enough thtat Hazekit had seen him nearly give in to weakness, now he had to deal with ehr mouse-brained brothers! "Everything is fine! Seriously, nothing happened!" He squeaked when Sandswirl pushed him over to examine his paws. "Sandswirl! Get off!"
The warrior ignored him and meowed crisply, "Lionkit, go get Lastsong. Tell her that Drizzlekit has hurt his paw, but no more than that." She looked up at Hazekit with narrowed eyes. "Tell me what happened, Hazekit."

OOC: NOOoez! Lastsong is a maaale! >o< hahaha
BIC: Lionkit nodded sagely and turned towards the medicine den, his rusty red fur blurred as he moved over the rocks. Hazekit was left feeling vulnerable, which was odd for her. She shifted her weight from paw to paw, looking at Longkit for support even when she knew she wouldn't get any.
"We were playing and he felt on it I think." Hazekit mewed, looking up at Sandswirl nervously. She hoped Lastsong would come soon and that Drizzlekit wouldn't be badly hurt.

Sorry. I'm used to -song being a she-cat's suffix.
Drizzlekit was more observant than most cats gave him credit for. He realized that Hazekit was uneasy, and found himself frowning at the thought. She was never uneasy, always ready to go out and explore. So he glared at Sandswirl and meowed sharply, "Sandswirl! Stop interrogating Hazekit like a criminal! It was an accident; she didn't do anything!"
Sandswirl blinked in shock at the kit. Then something happened that only happened once every other moon: Sandswirl began to laugh. Drizzlekit bristled like he were preparing to tackle her for daring to laugh at him, but the older she-cat raised a paw to stop him. When she got herself back under control, she grinned down at him. "Big words for such a runt."
His eye twitch and he growled, "I'm not a runt! I'm the biggest kit in my litter!"

OOC: Yes I understand hahaha
BIC: Hazekit glanced between the two cats, blinking. She thought that Drizzlekit might have been trying to help her, but she wasn't sure - it was hard to tell, since he had a tendency to be argumentative about many things. She turned when she heard pawsteps and saw that Lastsong was approaching with Lionkit at his heels. The medicine cat had a bundle of herbs in his jaws and an aloof expression on his face. He dropped the herbs abruptly and glanced at Drizzlekit.
"The injured one, I presume?" He asked, twitching his whiskers as he bent to examine the paw the kit was obviously favoring.

Pain and frustration was making Drizzlekit's temper shorter than it normally would be. "No, I'm just holding my paw in the air to find out how many flies I can draw." he snapped with a wince. "Use that brain you're so famous for and stop asking stupid questions!"
Sandswirl sighed and hid her face. "Drizzlekit, didn't your mother ever teach you not to snap when a cat is trying to help you?"
He snorted, a cheeky grin finding his way to his muzzle despite himself. "If she did, I wasn't listening."
