The smell of frozen tar dulled the harsh tang of the Thunderpath, easing the sting of the scent in Shadowcross's nose. The she-cat's clear blue gaze wandered over the abandoned track, her paws itching to step out onto that black expanse and see just what lay beyond it, not in RiverClan territory but off in the distance, where the sun sank into waters, or so the elders said. Shadowcross wrinkled her nose, dislodging the thought. She had worked to do. This was no time for fairytales and daydreams.
The she-cat turned, her thick muscles flexing as she cast a glance at the border. Everything seemed clear, which was good. If she was going to get in trouble, the last cat she wanted around was Tidalwave. He was nothing but a showoff and she detested the very idea of patrolling with him. He was probably thinking up ways to show her up now. She curled her lip, looking for him in the brush. What was taking the lazy furball so long, anyway? She hissed softly, impatient to get on. Of course he'd make me wait for him. She thought crossly.

A snowshoe tom slipped from ShadowClan's camp. He was meant to be on a patrol with Shadowcross, of all cats. Why did I have to be stuck with that show off of a she-cat? he asked himself.
Tidalwave had his bright blue gaze scanning his surroundings. He was on his way towards the RiverClan border, where they decided to meet. He knew he was running late but didn't really care. "She can wait" he muttered to himself. He spotted her up ahead and padded towards her. "Shadowcross" he said as a greeting.

Shadowcross stood with her face turned to the side, her eyes distant. She was thinking again, thinking of the past. The present. The future. She sighed when she heard footsteps. So he'd come at last, had he? Shadowcross turned in time to see Tidalwave emerging from the brush. He had that stupid haughty look to him that irritated her instantly. He apparently didn't care that he'd made her wait. Whatever. She didn't care.
"Tidalwave." She meowed, her eyes narrowing slightly. She was sick of him already, and she'd only just met up with him. How in the name of StarClan will I get through this patrol? She thought grimly.

Tidalwave noticed her expression and he shot Shadowcross a smirk, just to annoy her. "Hows it going?" he asked, the smirk still in place. He was planning on making this patrol as awkward as possible for the she-cat, which meant a lot of forced conversation on his part.

Shadowcross could see the gears turning in the tom's eyes. She sighed and rolled her eyes. She wouldn't fall into his poorly made trap. She looked across the border and shrugged.
"Haven't found anything interesting as of yet. I thought we could travel a bit further down the Thunderpath. There's been some movement near the lake." She glanced at him then turned back to the Thunderpath, looking at it thoughtfully.

Tidalwave looked at Shadowcross, noticing the roll of her eyes, among others things. He also noticed how beautiful her dark brown and ginger pelt was and how her dark blue gaze captivated him. He shook his head, Where did that come from? I hate her he thought to himself.
Tidalwave completely displaced those thoughts, just in time to realise she said something, but he wasn't sure what. "Let's go then" he mewed, choosing to say something rather than look like an idiot and ask what she said.

Shadowcross frowned, not liking the way Tidalwave kept staring at her. What did he want? Was he looking for a way to annoy her again? She sighed and shook her head, dislodging the thoughts that were threatening to overwhelm her. This was what he wanted, and she wouldn't let him get to her.
"Fine," she mewed curtly, "Let's go." She padded along the Thunderpath, her deep blue eyes trained on the path ahead as she considered what could be happening on the border.

Tidalwave almost let himself zone out again before realizing that Shadowcross had started moving. He followed her, only quickening his pace to catch up before matching hers.
"So how are you?" he asked, attempting to break the silence that usually plagued them. For some reason he couldn't stand the silence today, when usually he welcomed it.

Shadowcross let out a soft huff. What was he doing, trying to make small talk? What did he care about how her day was going? He probably just wanted to monopolize her and make her feel like an idiot. She didn't turn to look at him when she replied;
"As good as could be expected." She meowed brusquely.

Tidalwave rolled his eyes. Here he was trying to make civilized conversation for once and she was not reacting positively. She was just being her usual infuriating self.
He was about to open his maw and say something else, but quickly changed his mind. He settled for just following her in the thick silence around them.

OOC: Mind if I throw some plot into this or should we make some more civilized conversation?
BIC: Shadowcross wasn't as content as she'd thought she'd be with the silence that rested between them. She resisted the urge to look back at Tidalwave, knowing that he deserved none of her attentions but wondering what he was thinking anyway. It was her nature, she supposed, to question the motives of others. Hesitating for a moment, Shadowcross looked a little to her right, trying to catch a glimpse of Tidalwave over her shoulder but failing to do so in an obvious manner. Frustrated, she just faced straight again and decided she'd have to live with what she probably deserved.

((We need plot, because I'm not even sure what I'm writing, its kind of random fluffy stuff thrown together, lol))
Tidalwave continued on, following Shadowcross. He didn't miss the glance that she tried to direct his way and he let a smirk grace his maw. "You know its easier to look at me if you turn around" he said, a teasing tone in his voice. That should break the silence he thought to himself.

Shadowcross glared at him over her shoulder, grateful for the chance to see his expression, even if the smug look only served to infuriate her more.
"Who wants to look at you?" She growled hostilely, "Except maybe to make sure you weren't dawdling." She flicked her tail as if to emphasize her point. Then, turning back to the Thunderpath, she noticed something near the middle of the hard black surface. It shone like stars, casting a rainbow reflection on the tar around it. Shadowcross pricked her ears, curious. She glanced both ways to make sure there were no monsters around, and then rushed towards the shining object, wanting to know what it was.
OOC: You don't remember our plan, then? =,= Just in case you don't I'd make Tidalwave stay back if I were you =w=

((I don't remember our plan))
Tidalwave just let out a sigh of annoyance at her behaviour. He was following Shadowcross when she suddenyl veered for the Tunderpath. He stopped and watched her approach the edge before padding onto it. He noticed the shiny object that had caught her attention. "Get back here you mousebrain" he called to her "and leave the twoleg trash alone." He cursed her stupidity and was praying that nothing happened to her.

Shadowcross had almost reached the shining object when she heard Tidalwave's warning. She looked over her shoulder, a shadow crossing over her brow. She hated being insulted by him.
"I'll do what I-" A noise filled her ears suddenly. She whipped her head around, her eyes wide with fright, to see a monster rushing at her. She couldn't move; her legs felt as if the blood in her veins had frozen. When she finally got herself together, it was too late. Shadowcross made a move to dodge out of the way but felt something hard hit her flank. She didn't make a sound, even though the pain was excruciating. Shadowcross let the momentum of the strike carry her away from the monster, onto the side of the Thunderpath. She lay there, stunned, her leg bleeding onto the pavement, her eyes staring forward. To any cat she might look dead, although she was still breathing raggedly, trying to still her beating heart.
OOC: We PMed some ideas I think. I could remind you if you want what goes on from this point ^,^

((I know we did, I just don't remember them))
Tidalwave watched as she turned to protest and she was cut off. Everything seemed to slow down as the monster collided with Shadowcross, as she was thrown to the side of the path while he was frozen in place. He saw her collide with the ground at the side of the path before he could move. He rushed to her side and took in her appearance, her bleeding leg and glazed eyes. She would've looked dead if it weren't for her heaving chest.
Tidalwave did what instinct told him and he began licking her fur rhythmically, trying to calm her heart. "You'll be okay, I'm right here" he mewed, trying to comfort the injured she-cat.

Shadowcross took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. I'm going to die... She kept thinking. I'm going to die. She looked up at Tidalwave, wondering how bad her injuries were. She couldn't move her leg. She could feel the warm blood, smell it in the air.
"There's something on the Thunderpath," she meowed softly, "I think it's leaking into the... into the river..." She glanced at the shining thing, which looked like it had once been a part of a bigger thing. Then her eyes began to close as she felt the pull of sleep. Why now? Oh yeah. I'm dying, probably. She thought, stunned by how calm she felt. She tried to fight the urge to fall asleep. She didn't know what to do anymore.
"Cobwebs..." She mewed, frowning, "Cobwebs... bleeding..." She looked back at her leg, but she couldn't see much of it - her soft patched fur was drenched in dark crimson. She let her head rest against the Thunderpath, wondering how long it would take. Would Tidalwave do something? Why would he? He could just watch me die and would never have to talk to me again. He wouldn't have to see me anymore. Her eyes stung and her throat felt swollen. But now wasn't the time to cry. She wanted to be strong if these were her last moments. She knew she needed help. She knew she needed a medicine cat. She knew if she didn't stop the bleeding she would die.

Tidalwave watched as Shadowcross battled unconciousness. He knew he had to do something and fast, before she could bleed out. He registered her saying something about an object leaking into the river. "We'll worry about that later, for now I'm looking after you" he mewed.
Tidalwave turned to the bushes clumber near the edge of the thunderpath. "Please StarClan let there be cobwebs" he muttered before padding over to them. He noticed the thorns on the branches, and some cobwebs bunched within the thorns. He took a deep breath before pushing his paw into the prickly bush. He gathered some cobwebs, ignoring the pain of the thorns stabbing him. He pulled his paw out, and carefully maneuvered himself back to Shadowcross.
He looked at her crimson leg, and knew that it had to be cleaned a bit before he could bandage it properly. He lowered his head and began to lick some of the blood off, ignoring the coppery taste.

Shadowcross felt something on her leg only fainting - it was already going numb. She closed her eyes as a fierce sting suddenly sent pain searing up her flesh. Gasping, Shadowcross cringed against Tidalwave's tongue, wishing she could put an end to the horrible pain. A thousand horrified thoughts rushed through her head, making her feel dizzy. Would she be able to walk again? Was her leg ruined? Broken? She looked up at Tidalwave, feeling desperate. But what could she say? He was already trying his best.
"Please..." Her voice sounded pitiful to her own ears, and she turned her face away as best as she could so Tidalwave wouldn't see how much pain she was in, "Please..."
It was all she could think to say.

Tidalwave heard Shadowcross' broken pleas, and felt a part of his heart break. He pulled back from her leg, trying to will the coppery tast from his mouth. His blue gaze examined Shadowcross' leg, trying to assess the damage.
There was a long gash running along it, and it was still sluggishly leaking blood. It didn't look broken to him, but he wasn't a medicine cat. Being satisfied with his mini exam he began to gently wrap her leg in the cobwebs. He wished he could do something for the agonizing pain that she had to be going through. He would never wish what had happened on anyone, not even his worst enemy, which had been Shadowcross, well at least up to today.

Shadowcross winced at the feeling of the cobwebs against her wounds. She clenched her jaw, willing herself to stay quiet and not squirm. She wanted to say something smart, something that would make Tidalwave think she was strong, and not a whining kit with a little scratch. She glanced at the wound, which was actually visible. It's deep but probably will heal fine. She thought, sighing in relief. Panicking would do nothing. She had to relax. She tried to force her limbs to release from their tense state. Glancing from the corner of her eye, Shadowcross stared at the shining object. She wondered what it was and why it was there. The distraction worked pretty well, making her forget the pain for only a few moments, but enough to let Tidalwave finish binding her wound.

Tidalwave looked at his bandaging job, it wasn't the best, but it would hold. He noticed that her muscles were relaxing as well, and he let out a sigh of relief.
"Shadowcross" he mewed. "Do you think you can put any weight on your leg?" he asked. He needed to know if he would have to carry her, or just act as a crutch.

Shadowcross closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Whether she could or not, she didn't want to be a burden to anyone. She rolled herself off her side, gathering her legs beneath her. With a gasp, she pushed herself up, biting her tongue to keep in the pained squeal that threatened to escape her lips. The pain was terrible, and she couldn't put any weight onto her dragging back leg. Even so, Shadowcross decided she wouldn't let the pain show on her face. She took in a deep breath then looked Tidalwave in the eye.
"I can make it to camp." She meowed.

Tidalwave watched as Shadowcross struggled to her paws. He noticed the masked pain and the blatant lie, and resisted the urge to roll his eyes. He moved to her side and leaned into her, taking some of her weight. "Let me help" he mewed, looking at her, a friendly smile on his maw.

Shadowcross resisted the urge to flinch away from Tidalwave. No matter what she thought of him, he was only trying to help. And, in the end, she really did need it. So Shadowcross leaned against his shoulder, clenching her jaw.
"Okay," she meowed, "I'm ready when you are."
