The feeling of soft earth beneath Rainfrost's paws was a soothing, familiar feeling. She'd never really imagined herself here, with an apprentice, but it had happened, and here she was. Most of her Clanmates were wary of her, since her mood was often unstable. But at the moment, there was no fear of her losing her temper. Rainfrost was nothing if not gentle to young cats, memories of her little brother's face always being close by her heart. She sat and curled her tail neatly around her thickly stripped paws, casting a glance over her shoulder, wondering what was taking her apprentice so long.
OOC: I know it's short please forgive me >o<

Skypaw raced through the forest, excitement practically flying off her pelt. This was it, her first day of training! She had waited six moons and felt the loss of a sibling but this was it, she had finally made it. This was it her time to shine, her time to show the world what she was made of! I'll be the best warrior ever! The calico apprentice was so tangled up in her thoughts that she did not notice that she had entered the clearing until she realized that she was running towards her mentor at a very fast pace and sank her claws in to the ground, trying desperately to stop.

Rainfrost glanced at Skypaw as she rocketed into the clearing. The blue-eyed tabby she-cat didn't move as her apprentice struggled to stop. Being rammed into wasn't exactly a pleasant prospect, but she expected Skypaw to learn to control herself, and if a few bruises and bumps would teach her that, then fine. Maybe I should have kept a closer eye on her. Rainfrost thought dryly, watching the young cat with a bemused expression, waiting to see what she'd do. OOC: You can run into her if you want. I don't mind

Sadly, Skypaw could not get control of her footing in time. The calico she-cat managed to close her eyes just a moment before running in to her mention, causing a feeling that was not very pleasant. There was the slight ache from the collision, and then there was the horrible embarrassment swimming through her. Yep, that was bad. OOC: Yay, thanks!

Rainfrost planted her paws and braced herself. She didn't even move when Skypaw rammed into her. She looked down at the apprentice without much emotion in her face.
"A little eager this morning, are we?" She asked with a twitch of her whiskers, ignoring the shock that had run through her limbs and looking completely unfazed.

Skypaw jumped to her paws, earlier embarrassment forgotten, and exclaimed, "of course I'm eager, I've been waiting for this my entire life! It feels so amazing that I'm finally an apprentice, so exhilarating! Is this how it will feel before my first battle?"

Rainfrost couldn't help a small smile forming at the edges of her mouth. What a rambunctious kit. But hadn't she been once, long ago? A kit full of dreams, full of purpose... No longer. She served the Clan, but notions of freedom had long escaped her mind, lost on the wind like her dear brother.
"For a time, perhaps," Rainfrost meowed in response to her apprentice's question, "But I'm afraid that battles are much more intense than your training will be. And that it why we are here. To practice hunting and battle moves so that you will be prepared." She said with a distinct nod of her head.

A frown slowly formed on Skypaw's face as she heard her mentor's words. She did not want the excitement to fade, she wanted the excitement that she felt to last forever. Right now she felt like nothing could hold her back, nothing could stop her. Did that really have to come to an end?

Rainfrost noticed the expression on her apprentice's face. She smiled and inclined her head slightly.
"But it is exciting to serve your Clan. Don't worry about battles - every day is a battle. Every piece of prey you bring back is a victory won for your Clan. Your energy is good for you if you use it well. Understand?" Rainfrost looked down at Skypaw, her cold blue eyes looking more friendly than they usually did. She admired Skypaw's enthusiasm. She had never felt such a fire, especially not after the accident.

Skypaw grinned, her previous disappointment forgotten, and exclaimed, "awesome, I understand completely! So, what are we gonna do first, fighting, hunting, raid another clan!?"

Rainfrost laughed out loud, amused by her apprentice's energy. Would she ever slow down?
"I'm afraid we'll have to wait for the raiding until you're properly trained. Today we will be working on hunt techniques. Okay." Rainfrost padded forward and snagged a grey stone with her claws, pushing it over to the center of the clearing. Then she nodded, turning to Skypaw.
"I want you to pretend this rock is a mouse. Show me the hunting crouch you would use to stalk and pounce it." She instructed solemnly.

Skypaw nodded and dropped in to a hunting crouch. She slowly snuck up on it in what would have been a great stalking technique if it where not for all the vibrations she was sending through the ground, something that would have chased off the mouse long ago. With a grin Skypaw lunged at the stone, pouncing right on top of it.

Rainfrost watched closely, studying the techniques, the angles, the feeling, the sound. Then she shook her head, sighing.
"Not a bad start at all. The only problem is that you're pressing too hard with your paws. Mice can sense your movements, the tiniest quake in the earth that can be set off merely by putting a paw down. You must be conscious of this. Try again with lighter feet this time." Rainfrost meowed, her voice business-like as she kept her keen blue eyes on her apprentice.

Skypaw nodded and began stalking the stone again, with lighter footfalls this time. At first she was doing pretty good but she soon felt herself begin to loose balance. Thinking quick Skypaw gave just as she was about to completely loose her balance, sending massive vibrations through the ground but landing on the rock before it would have had a chance to run where it a mouse.

Rainfrost examined her apprentice's movements once more, paying attention to the way her muscles moved, her legs, her shoulders. She seemed to be doing well at first, but then her balance began to suffer for her light steps. Rainfrost narrowed her eyes, interested to see what would happen. Skypaw looked about ready to fall, but instead of doing so she leaped forward and used her misbalance to capture the rock. Rainfrost twitched her whiskers and nodded slightly.
"Not the cleanest catch but it was inventive giving the circumstances. Good. Now, try again. Even if you are walking lightly keeping the weight distributed evenly." She instructed.
