Joltheart sped along the trail leading to the snaking silver lines that were the streams. He paused every once and a while to put his nose into the air, and sniff around the heather. He knew it drove Echostorm crazy, him thundering through the bushes like this, he did it sometimes for that very reason, he didn't live to please her every wish. He caught the scent of a water fowl, and turned sharply towards the breeze. When he saw the creature, he slunk close to the ground, his black pelt brushing the ground underneath his stomach, his dark green eyes watched it intently, as he flung himself onto it, and gently ripped its throat.
The kill was clean and precise, but when he turned he just saw Echostorm looking away, acting as if she hadn't seen. Joltheart snorted.
Echostorm looked around for Joltheart as he thundered through the territory, she rolled her eyes, impatient little rat, she thought, turning her sharp eyes onto a quivering bush, she followed him down to the streams, Echostorm had tackled a few ravens and such that he had scared up through the trees, but she knew this was not the way that he had been taught to hunt. She just stretched as he finally saw a water fowl, he caught on, and killed it, quick and clean. Echostorm looked away, stiffling a snort, she looked at the ruffling bushes to where she heard a noise coming. [/center] [/blockquote][/blockquote][/size][/font] |

Emberstare moved soundlessly through the territory. She was searching for Joltheart who left not nlong before her to go hunting with Echosong. Her sightless amber gaze was fixed forward as she used Joltheart's scent to find him. She heard the tell tale rush of water and knew she was by the streams. She walked into the clearing by the streams and was greeted by a loud commotion. "Joltheart" she called out.

Joltheart looked up as he heard his mate's voice and saw her furn. He got up and hurried towards her, smiling happily.
"Emberstare!"
He said, excitedly rubbing his neck along hers.
"What brings you here?"
Joltheart asked kindly, licking the top of her head affectionately.
Echostorm looked up to see Emberstare, she let out a little purr of acknowledgement and looked away awkwardly as the two shared a kind moment. She flashed back to when Joltheart had shown interest in her, she'd always thought he was a dimwit, but he really was quite brilliant. Echostorm looked down at her paws, a bit down, she shook the feelings off, he was an idiot, and he was wonderful with Emberstare.

Emberstare returned Joltheart's nuzzle and purred. "I came to find you" she mewed "I thought I could join your hunt, if you didn't mind." She placed an affectionate lick on her mate's muzzle.

Joltheart nodded, smiling wide,
"We'd love it!"
He said, giving Echostorm a stare that meant, right?
Echostorm looked at him, and rolled her eyes,
"It'd be wonderful, Emberstare."
she said, smiling kindly. She had nothing wrong with Emberstare, she was a great hunter, but Joltheart tended to guard her like a lost kit, it usually impeded in Emberstare's ability to hunt. [/center] [/blockquote][/blockquote][/size][/font] |

Emberstare smiled. "So how's the prey running today?" she asked. "Or did all your trampling about scare it off?"

Joltheart squnited and looked down, embarrassed.
"Noo!"
He said, looking at her, feeling silly.
Echostorm laughed and looked at the sky awkwardly, as Joltheart gave her an embarrased look.
"huhum."
She said, trying not to laugh.

Emberstare just shook her head at their antics. "I'm guessing we'll have to go somewhere else to hunt" she mewed.

Joltheart stood up and nodded at his mate, watching Echostorm
"We probably should head away."
Joltheart said, yawning and stretching luxuriously.
Echostorm stared at Emberstare and Joltheart and nodded.
"I'll head a little further east, and see if there's any other prey up there.."
Echostorm said, looking at Emberstare and Joltheart. She lifted her foot and headed towards the small streams to the east. [/center] [/blockquote][/blockquote][/size][/font] |

"Okay lead the way" she mewed, flicking her tail. She was looking forward to the chance to hunt, it had been a few days since she last had a chance.

Joltheart looked at his mate and flicked his tail towards the forest. He stared at Emberstare and yawned,
"This way"
He quietly shot into the forest and heard her following,
"Grab my tail in your teeth."[/green]
Joltheart sniffed the air.
Echostorm ran into the heather and looked into the streams, quickly she shot her paw into the water and yanked a silvery fish out of the clear, cool water.
She brought her dripping hand out of the water and licked it, leaving the fish to wriggle to death on shore.
Immediately she did it again, piling up five fish, she stretched and looked around, watching the shadows play as the sun went down.

Emberstare padded after her mate, using the sounds of his pawsteps as a guide. She grabbed onto his tail, knowing it was fruitless to argue. She knew she could follow on her own but allowed him to lead her.
