Silverpaw could just strangle him. "We just came out of camp! We passed right beside the fresh-kill pile!" She hissed, her fur bristling. "If you want food, go back and get some yourself or hunt for one right here!" The little apprentice was indignant, sitting down stubbornly on the grass.

"What can't you hunt?" Dancingflame asked, holding back a grin and making his face look shocked. "I thought I was going to get a piece of prey caught by a master apprentice, but apparently I'll have to find that apprentice..." Dancingflame stood up. "Maybe Sleetpaw could - "

Silverpaw snapped, and tackled her mentor, hissing at him. "Don't you ever, ever think of changing me for that cat! I am better than him!" Pushing her mentor away, the little apprentice set off to look for a rodent, anger pulsing through her. "I'll show that annoying old fur ball who he's dealing with!" She rasped, clawing the ground as she ran.

Dancingflame smiled at his success. He settled down to wait, giving his tail a quick bath. It was constantly twitching though, almost without his leave, and he had to place a restraining paw on it.

ooc; you're lucky Silverpaw hasn't decided to go wacko on Dancingflame XD
Silverpaw padded back to her mentor a few minuted later, a plump young rabbit dangling for her jaws. Dropping it with a splat right in front of Dancingflame. "There you go you old fur ball." She rasped, still mightily angry. "Choke on it." Then, turning her back on him, she padded a few steps away and sat down to groom herself proudly.

"I do apparently have a master hunter for an apprentice." Dancingflame said. "I didn't catch a rabbit that quick until I was ten moons." He said. He was proud of her, and padded over to lick her ear before eating. "Thanks Silverpaw." He said genuinely.

Silverpaw still sat stiffly even as her mentor licked her ear and praised her. "Hmph!" She said, though she could feel her muscles starting to relax. "You're welcome you lazy old fur ball." She mewed, her pride boosted by bounds and leaps from Dancingflame's praise.

Dancingflame grinned, glad they were beginning to be more friendly around one another. He went over and took a bite of the rabbit, but then looked back at Silverpaw. "Do you want a bite?" He offered, holding a paw up. "After all, you caught it."

The little apprentice turned to look at the warrior, shifty on her legs. "No, thank you," She mewed, "I was smart enough to eat while we still were at camp." Silverpaw did, however, go sit beside her mentor, watching the grass sway under the wind's caress.

Dancingflame took a deep breath and lifted his face to the wind. He closed his eyes and took pleasure in the peaceful moment. "Oh yes, of course my wise apprentice outthinks her ancient mentor." Dancingflame teased.

"I believe your wise apprentice does out-think her ancient mentor." Silverpaw mewed back, knowing Dancingflame was teasing her. She was growing fond of her annoying old mentor, even if she didn't want to. Silverpaw smiled up at him, raising her head too and letting the wind brush through her fur, hoping the wind wouldn't get as strong as to knock her over again.

Dancingflame snickered as he watched her. "You might want to sit behind some rocks for support." He suggested. "Remember was happened last time?" He teased. He finished the rabbit and sat up, licking his lips after the delicious meal.

The little apprentice hissed indignantly. "That wind was just too strong!" Sitting up proudly, shed added. "Besides, I don't need anything to keep me up against the wind. I am strong enough." Silverpaw looked defiantly at Dancingflame, daring him to contradict her.

"You are strong, but don't get a big head about it. There are forces in nature more powerful than you." Dancingflame said seriously.

"I know that!" Silverpaw snapped, she hated when other cats thought that she didn't know such obvious things. "I am not a kit, Dancingflame." She added, her brow furrowed and her gray tabby fur beginning to bristle.

"Right, forgot, you know everything." Dancingflame said with an apologetic face. "Forgive me oh wise one." I'm just trying to do my job he added quietly to himself.

Silverpaw looked over at her mentor with narrowed eyes. "It is not that I know everything, you old furball." She said, without her usual heat this time. "So don't apologize, I just don't like being treated in the same intellectual level as a kit."

"I wouldn't bother to tell a kit anything." Dancingflame said. "They have a three second attention span and they love to chase my precious tail."

Silverpaw was completely taken off guard by her mentor's reply. She could feel laughter bubbling under her ribs, and let it out. The little apprentice bent over in laughter, imagining poor Dancingflame running away from tiny kits who wished to play with his furry tail.

Dancingflame growled, but he was amused by the fact his apprentice was amused. "Yeah, well, if you like them so much one of your chores can be to babysit them." Dancingflame said with a devilish grin spread across his face. He didn't add that he could get Sleetpaw to help her and they could play 'family' with the kits.

ooc; omg, I died with your last sentence. X'DD
"Don't even joke about it." Silverpaw mewed, sitting up proudly. "They might be cute, but I like them from afar." She refrained from adding, though, that due to her short stature, she might be easily mistaken by one among them. Sighing internally, Silverpaw wished she was at least a bit taller.

Dancingflame nodded. "You and me both. So what is worse, a kit or an elder?" He asked with a wide grin.
OOC: Forget training, they need to bond X)

ooc; lol, alright.
Silverpaw smiled as she thought. "Definitely an elder." She mewed at last. "A kit is cuddly, but when it gets too bothersome you can always send it back to it's mother." Smiling more broadly, she continued. "An elder though.. well, it's different. They can still go after you when you bother them.. and some of them just don't know when to stop talking about their old doings." Silverpaw paused to think again, then added. "Oh, and they smell of moss and have many ticks.."

Dancingflame grinned. "Well, now I know the perfect way to punish you if you get out of line." He grinned, satisfied with himself. He disagreed, preferring the kits because he hated to use the mousebile on the elders.

Silverpaw grimaced at her mentor. "Oh, come on!" She mewed, a little testily. Flicking her tail, she added dryly. "If you send me there I'll make sure to bring back as many ticks for you as I can. And some mousebile to spread over you, if it's possible." The grimace turning into a grin, Silverpaw looked at her mentor. "Sound like a deal?"
